A beautiful day at Whitetail Woods today. I arrived around noon to freshly groomed and tracked trails. Sides were a little soft in spots, but better than I expected given they had just been set. There are a couple of fine and easy to avoid bare spots, but overall the trail is excellent today.

What a beauty. The groomer reported good trail conditions grooming in the colder temps today (vs grooming yesterday). Tracks are hard and set up well.

Went with a friend yesterday and skied most of the park. A lot of open spaces and a moderate at times, but frigid wind contributed to a good number of snow blown tracks, and uneven conditions. It was still fun to ski, and the course is nicely designed for the most part. One part I did not like was that some of the trail sections were multiuse, and there was foot traffic all over them, making the trails more difficult to ski. The trails at times nicely accommodates on downhill sections, pulling up the track, but in other places, not so much, due to foot traffic on multiuse sections.

Classic ski trails at Whitetail Woods are excellent. I started skiing at noon just as the groomer finished the trails, doing an excellent job. I'm pleased to report trails are in excellent shape. And no oak leaf debris! Fresh grooming, firm tracks, plenty of snow, open fields, pine and deciduous forests, mild temps, a perfect day for a ski.

A few segments of ski trails are closed due to natural resource work in the southeast corner of the park. Visit Dakota Parks website Trail Conditions for a map with the closed trails identified. Closures are expected to last through today, with all trails reopening for the weekend.

Whitetail Woods received 8 inches of dry powder last night. The groomer needs to use the Pistenbully due to an icy base, which is grooming Lebanon Hills Regional Park first (this morning), and Spring Lake Park Reserve second (this afternoon). Hoping to get to Whitetail Woods for grooming tomorrow Thursday but they may wait until after the next round of snow stops before grooming Whitetail Woods (Friday grooming at the latest).
