Six inches of fresh snow and bright sunshine took our minds off the world for a few hours here in the U.P. Thanks groomers for keeping up.

Skated the entire trail this morning.....perfect conditions. The skate deck was firm and had been groomed this morning. The classic track was set yesterday and is in great shape. Mild temps, snow flocked tress, beautiful morning! The park volunteers are potentially getting a back-up grooming machine....hope you'll help by making a donation at the trailhead.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All the trails have been completely groomed and tracked this morning. Excellent conditions. The trail is slowly getting firmer after our recent 14 inches snowfall. Local city park with very interesting mining history. We also have great snowshoe trails in the park. Please help our efforts and donate at the trailhead.

Very good conditions. Trails are firming up well. A few punchy pole plants, and some collapsing tracks, but those were rare. This trail gets better every year with wider climbs, a more level surface, and consistent grooming. Thank you to all the volunteers who make this possible. It is so fun to have this little system right in town!

We received about 8 inches of wet snow yesterday. But the temps dropped last night and the groomers were working with cold dry powder this morning. Skate deck is a little soft today, but should firm up. I classic skied the entire loop this afternoon with my Fischer Twin Skins. The classic track is firm and set pretty deep. Overall very very good conditions. Beautiful setting with the snow stuck to the trees. It's going to be a great weekend for skiing.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We received a couple of inches of wet snow yesterday. We groomed that in very early this morning and set new classic tracks. Conditions are good, only a few thin spots, mostly in the classic track.

Conditions continue to improve as snow continues to fall, and groomers continue to groom. It just keeps getting better, and a bit faster today with temps near 20°F. Nice to see so many happy skiers out on the trails!

Miners is groomed with skate lane and track set. Trails are firming up, and have been groomed multiple times over the last 3 days. There are some whips poking through on the edges, and a couple soft spots, but trails are skiing well. Check out the new extension on the Curry Trail that heads closer to town for some amazing classic skiing. The Miners section of the SISU race course is looking good, and we are still 2 months out from the race. Get out there and ski!

Firsthand: Classic Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We received a lot more snow than advertised! Guess would be a solid 10 inches on the ground. I classic skied the Aurora loop this afternoon using my good skis. In an effort to firm the trails they were continuously rolled during the storm. All trails are open. A classic track was set today around noon. The skate lane is fairly firm. It's going to take a bit before the classic track firms up. FYI: This trail system is part of the finishing race course for the SISU Skifest. Come practice your Finnish!

Firsthand: Classic Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Additional snow overnight and continues to snow hard. Trails were rolled again this morning. Still soft snow on top of frozen ground. Used my rock skis, but didn't hit a single thing, probably could use B skis. Grooming plans: We'll roll the trail again tomorrow and mostly likely try to set a track. Expect soft conditions. Excellent first on-snow experience.
