Morning
Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
We have experienced mechanical problems with our grooming machine. Due to the timeframe of parts arriving, grooming will be done for this season. Half of the system had been rolled, packed and could be used for skating!

Afternoon
Observation
It looks like it was groomed within the last day or two, but then someone drove a vehicle straight through the initial trails right off the parking lot. I started to ski but decided to turn around due to the uneven skate deck. The skate deck area was soft considering the amount of snow we received. I did not see any classic tracks set initially.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails had been groomed this morning. A nice track and level skate deck have been touched up. We have a lot of debris to deal with currently. With the warm temps, grooming will be suspended for now. Ski early and enjoy!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Freshly groomed and outstanding A+ conditions for both classic and skate skiing. IMO, the skate deck might be the best in the area because of width. Thanks Conover for such an awesome facility. Please keep it for the rest of the ski season.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
On the North Loop, I understand that they counted 600 trees fallen over the trails. As I held my breath and slithered under still another "natural arch," an aspen bent all the way over the trail, I realized that the fine man who takes care of this fine trail for the Vilas County Forestry and Recreation Department, was only able to get things going relatively recently. As of now, however, everything is beautiful, as the song used to say. All trails open, still quite a bit of debris out there, but that massive cold base is encouraging. Wind was blowing hard, but the geography here mitigates it.

Beautiful conditions. Skied the yellow and orange trails from the parking lot. Nice classic tracks set and light snow over skating track.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All of Pioneer Creek had been groomed this afternoon. Very nice conditions with scattered debris here and there, all avoidable. A nice track has been set with the little bit of fresh snow that we have. The skate deck is level and beautiful.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
4 f northwest wind at up to 15mph. One inch of new dry snow from last night covered all trails and tracks. Cold and new snow hindered glide. Wind blocked in forested area. Skied a short portion of trails near the start by going back and forth multiple times over a hour.

14 f, overcast with occasional very dry small snow flakes falling. Wide and firm skate trails with tracks set. A Tidd G2 is pulled at this location. A winter wonderland.

Excellent! Full wide trail all groomed up. Classic tracks firm throughout. Skate deck super-wide and level. Very little debris: either it has been picked up or buried under 8" new powder. There are some leaves on the trail from the entrance to the snowmobile crossing, do not let that give you cold feet.
