McCarthy in almost as pristine condition as it was a couple days ago! Hats off and thank you to the groomer(s)! Some leaf litter in classic tracks around woods makes skating ideal. Skate deck is extremely firm, I'd call it slick and fast, but absolutely not icy. The off-camber section that was previously very soft has firmed up perfectly thanks to the groomer's efforts. Overall few bare spots, a couple spots with coyote scat, and numerous places where a ski has dug into the snow make skiing in the total dark unappealing, but up through 40 min past sunset (with headlamp) gave enough light to avoid these tricky spots. Starting to get more boot prints in the trail, unfortunately.

Trails are still in pretty good condition. Some grass was starting to show, but skate deck was firm. It appeared that classic tracks were mostly there based on observation only.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Completed daily grooming on all the trails, all trails have skate lane and tracks set. Skate lane is firming up more each day with maintenance grooming. Tracks are good but still shallow in places where some vegetation is showing in spots.

Second consecutive day at this location, found conditions average at best; not nearly as good as yesterday's fantastic ski. Warm temps and very heavy use yesterday left tracks soft or completely obliterated in places. Track farther from lot generally in better shape. Fresh powder (small) had speeds down, but covered the leafy debris from yesterday. A few edge bare spots were easily avoidable. Skate deck looked firmer than yesterday's corduroy, but there were bare spots today.

Classic trails in very good shape, considering this is first snow. A few blades of grass here and there, but no open spots. That may change if it gets sunny, since the base was thin in spots. Track depth varied from shallow to 2+ inches--again, to be expected for first snow. Some leaves and twigs in tracks, so watch for those. The McCarthy groomers are fantastic! All volunteer, if memory serves. Thanks to you!
