Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Running behind and wanted to fit a ski in, even though it was cold, and I hadn't been out to Silvermine too recently. Looked like some grooming recently, and pretty packed down. Not too many tracks at the time, no classic tracks set. It was a little bumpy, some debris and dirty spots, a couple thin spots. Gotta climb some good uphills to earn the view. Overall still a good ski, considering the cold. And nice to have a place closer to home so I could get my workout in before really cold temps set in again.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Base was firm and good for skiing. One icy patch at the bottom of the far turn that was uncovered from my endless ski-overs by the time I was done. It was a pleasant solo ski, I really enjoyed my time out there!

The man made snow loop was soft but base was good and skiable. Probably won't be after today. Let's hope we get the snow!

Silvermine Nordic man made snow loop was groomed well, it really freshened up the trail (great work, groomers!). Skiing was firm and fast this warm day. Best snow in the area so far.

Silvermine loop was fast today; snow is still good, but I think it's starting to get a little thin in places. Need another snowfall to freshen up the base. Still, it was great to get out on snow locally, enjoyed a solo easy ski.

Fast with a few icy spots. Was solo skiing for a while, then some more people showed up. Glad to have more people getting out there! It was great for a nice, easy, quick ski.

Skied the man made snow loop again today. Now that it's finally snowed a little, it's a base of man made snow with natural snow on it. Freshly groomed, snow was faster today, although my legs felt slow. Quiet out there, not to windy. One icy spot, but did some work to get it covered up and packed down for better skiing experience.

New man made snow loop in the area, just established this fall. Groomed and ready for skiing. It's small, but works good skills such as turning, small downhills and uphills. It was a little worn in by the time I got to it today, so skis didn't feel fast on it today, but it was still decent. Only solid snow for miles around that you can ski in your good skis and know they'll be fine. The loop itself is about 400 meters, all snow made by volunteers. It's maintained every day. I know it's not much, but it's a start, and there's plans to continue to develop it. I look forward to what the future brings for this spot.
