Notes

A great hilly trail system completely in the woods. Because of the woods, the trails hold their snow better than most.

Trail Reports

2022-2023 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 17    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Saturday, March 25, 2023
Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails were groomed early Friday morning but degraded significantly Friday afternoon. Many fully transformed icy segments, dark snow, and slush are now present Saturday morning though there was still 100% coverage. I enjoyed Saturday's ski and removed my skis for only one steep downhill due to ice. Given this afternoon's temperatures and sun, I expect significantly more degradation, so this was my last ski outing at Terrace.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed this morning for skate only (no classic tracks). The conditions were remarkably good- fast and smooth with sufficient edging. Only a few oak leaves and sticks. Fully transformed ice in only a couple short avoidable sections. Terrace Oaks keeps it's reputation for good late season skiing on natural snow.

Trail was in great condition and looked like it was just groomed this morning. Only saw foot traffic on the blue loop.

Excellent conditions! Freshly groomed with deeply set classic tracks and flat smooth skate deck. Some oak leaves in the tracks but they didn't have too much effect on the skin skis. Skied all of the trails.

Skate skied the trails. It looked like skate deck had been groomed earlier in the day. Some soft snow from warmup over a hard snow base. Flat skate deck. Classic track didn't really look all that great and didn't look like it had been used.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Grooming is very good on all of the trails. Seemed like it had been done pretty recently because there were very few signs of classic skiers and no sign of skate skiers on the corduroy. Tracks are well set and skate deck is smooth and flat. Tracks are a bit icy in places, and skate deck was very firm. Very fast and fun! There are quite a few leaves in the tracks, but they weren't too bad with skin skis. There were also several sets of hiker boot tracks and dog tracks on the trails, including some in the classic tracks.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Not groomed this morning and the glaze from the rain made for fast, but not treacherous, trails. Trails have good snow coverage and were fairly clean. With the removal of many trees in the past year or so, the leaf debris is less.

Trails were in overall good condition; grooming was fantastic! Some trails debris; I knocked any big sticks I could off the trail and any debris left was easy to avoid.

Freshly groomed today. Skate-skied the trails. Skate deck excellent. Only a portion of the trails have a classic track set. Track is shallow.
