Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Although the Ski Games trails remain closed due to some tree removal by the County, the skate decks on all of the trails on the Winthrop side were regroomed this afternoon and are in very good condition. B skis are recommended due to some debris/ grass exposure, but these small sections are easily avoidable. Classic tracks set earlier in the week are holding up nicely with only a few spots washed out or holdiing some debris. Again, there is room to avoid these sections. It should be a great evening to ski under lights.

Groomed Bronze, Silver and Gold trails as well as the ball fields (ski games is still closed for tree removal). The skate deck is in good condition (good skis should be fine). The Bronze trail is still thin especially the wooded plateau but also a few placed on the prairie. Tracks were reset and vary from fair to very good. The Bronze classic tracks still have a few short bare spots.

Overall conditions are pretty good with some sections being great. Set new classic tracks, these are thin in spots. Ski Games trails remain closed. Get out and enjoy!

Thin, windblown, and bare in spots, but overall good B ski coverage--especially on the hills, and there are plenty of them! Groomer was out at noon, working with what was there.

Touched up the Silver, Bronze, and Ball Field today. Most trails are in "good ski" condition. A few spots need more snow. I didn't do much to the tracks, most are old but not too bad. We're hoping for more snow this weekend.

Nice late morning/early afternoon skate ski at BC. Skied all open trails (note: tree removal has decimated the ski games loop, which is closed). Good coverage with only small patches of dirt on the steepest sections of uphills. Last night’s short blast of new snow gave the trail a nice refresher though also made for slowish conditions (but not squeaky styrofoam slow like we experienced recently). Groomer was doing excellent work on the WC loop around noon.

Bronze, Silver, and Gold trails were given two passes to refresh the skating deck. Classic track In fair condition. Ski Games trail is closed for now due to tree work. There are a number of bare spots especially on steeper inclines and there are areas with grass poking through. These areas are avoidable and overall the trails have good coverage.

Battle Creek groomers nailed the time to groom during the warm to cold cycle. Majority of World Cup trail is in great shape for skating. Some areas with afternoon sun are icy (especially by the ballfields) but otherwise it's firm and easy to find an edge on 90% of the loop. There is one single sizable bare spot at the top of a hill on Gold, it's on an uphill so it will not catch you off guard. Silver/Bronze have full coverage (although thin in some areas). As reported: Ski Games trails are closed for 2 weeks for tree removal by the County.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Ski Games trails are closed for 2 weeks for tree removal by the County. Groom as temperatures were falling. Silver and Gold trails are mostly in good condition with classic tracks, given the amount of snow. The gold trail has an almost full-width bare spot near the summit of the longest ascent and there a few thin spots on both Gold and Silver. Conditions on the Bronze trail are variable - there are long stretches that are pretty good, but there are also many thin spots on both the prairie and plateau portions - generally easy to avoid.

Freshened up the skate deck early this morning on the Silver and Bronze trail. I didn't touch the classic tracks, just not enough snow to improve them. Battle Creek right now is a tale of two cities. The early part of the trail is very thin, once you get to the logging are it is really thin. Past sign post 7 and it is very nice. Skate deck is flat and the tracks have had heavy use but are in place.
