A nice set of trails with rolling hills. The first lighted trail system in the metro, it still attracts a lot of after-work skiers.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Rock skis ]
Went out this morning with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. They had groomed already and the skate deck was in good shape but there were several spots with rocks poking out. You can largely dance around them but I would bring skis that you are ok to get a lil damage in the base. 95% of the trails are great, the meadow trail has a slot with just a small ribbon of ice connecting it. There were tracks in places but completely filled with ice so I wouldn't plan on striding unless you do it on the skate deck. Definitely worth a visit!

French was 95 percent excellent albeit thin for skating this afternoon. There were some sections of ice, debris and gravel to navigate. Definitely B skis. The only time I Took off my skis was on the last climb from the lake up to the chalet, there's quite a bit of gravel on the lower section. A section of meadow trail (west side) is washed out but enough snow to go around. Classic tracks are spotty and icy in areas. Wouldn't recommend night skiing unless you have a good headlamp to see the gravel.

Trails were excellent considering the lack of snow. Some crunchy spots and rocks here and there, but nothing that can't be avoided. First tracks on the groomed trail this morning!

I skated at French Tuesday night and it was better than expected- some icy and thin patches in spots but overall quite good; the groomers are doing a great job making it happen with limited snow. An enjoyable skate ski. Get out and enjoy it while it lasts.

Bring your B skis for a pleasant natural ski. Some parts of the trail are pristine. Some parts are a little icy and some parts have a little bit of wood chips .Get out here and ski before the snow is melted. Some tracks are set, but they're very shallow.

Better than anticipated, they were grooming as I was out there before 7. Good coverage for skating and only listed B skis because I could see some rocks getting kicked up as more people ski there, nothing was tracked when I left with the thin snow cover. Snow was still soft so Classic is still doable if you are ok with no tracks. Only spot with some ice was the land bridge on the back side and some small spots in the Meadows. Was a good morning out there, great job by the groomers!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The groomers were out when I was skiing around 8 AM, they were trying to scratch up the skate deck and seemed to do as good of a job as can be expected from the conditions. There is good coverage, but I noted rock skis due to the hard ice pack that you will interact with and a rock here and there. I was classic skiing and stayed in the skate deck the entire time to double pole (tracks exist but completely iced over), if I would have put klister on maybe I could have strided up the hills but my hard wax was mostly stripped after 20 mins. Thank you groomers for scratching it up to make it usable today.

All the trails have coverage but were getting icy. The classic tracks were icy, good for double poling but probably not for striding. Snow was pretty thin on the Meadow bridge and the curb was visible but covered on Lagoon. There was standing water on a section of Meadow, ironically some of the best snow on the entire course was right after the water and to the entrance of the Medicine (old challenge) climb.

Skied French during the lunch hour. The skate deck is still in good shape, but definitely showing some wear. I'd recommend B skis due to debris and the thin deck, but I used my good skis with no problems.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I could ski all trails at French, everything is open and in good shape for skate, a little less for tracked with some track degraded in places. The terrain had not been groomed this morning so there was a 1/2 inch cover of fresh snow making skiing a little slower but very enjoyable.
