Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Como was rolled today to clean up the tracks and is in good condition for early in the season. Grooming plans: Will be groomed again with new snow.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Northern and eastern facing snow wind-blown to the point of grass stubble poking through. Southern and western facing slopes can have enough snow to be awkward trying to herringbone up. Numerous trails to follow made by earlier skiers, no tracks groomed yet for classic. The golf cart trail by the chalet and by hole 7 are almost uncovered. New skis, only second time used, no scratches yet. I saw nobody skating yet on the trails.

[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
The trails are becoming "skier groomed." You need to ski around the exposed tar on the way to the back bowl (through the sand trap) and in particular on the way back from the back bowl (across the tee off). People are falling on that downhill in the deep snow as they ski around the completely exposed tar. The tee on the south side (near the zoo) also has very thin snow. Tough day for skating.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
The park is essentially ungroomed. About 3k have been skied-in - multiple parallel classic tracks and snow is knocked down enough so skating is possible but slow. There is no loop on the top of 2nd fairway (probably scoured bare); the climb to 14T was skied in too far to the west so it is steeper than needed; the west half of the glacier is not skied-in. Grass and asphalt show thru on a number of the higher points - especially at the top of the steep descent from 17Gn to 4Frwy. I wouldn't recommend skiing at night at Como yet.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Fair skating on a thin base with several grassy spots showing through. Parts of the trail are in very good shape, others not so much. Still manageable with some care an B skis.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
There is pretty deep snow in areas and it’s in rougher condition. Decent for classic skiing, almost impossible for skate skiing.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic Observation
[ B skis ]
The snowcat made one pass around to pack the trail, but there were no classic tracks. A few areas were blown thin on hills. I only skied two loops around the lower, southern pond area. Snow varied from grass showing through snow to 8 inches off-trail. Snow is drifting and filling in tracks. Three teens came from the northern area and it looked passable driving north afterwards. The parking lot was being plowed as I left and the snowcat was getting fired up again, perhaps for more work. Roads getting there were poor.
