Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

Trail Reports

2021-2022 season
Reports 22 to 31 of 70    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skate deck was a bit slow with the new snow and icy underneath. A few patches with grass poking through and some icy fast downhills but nothing that felt too dangerous. I kind of wish I'd classic-ed instead because the tracks looked quite decent -- they were washed out around corners, but not too much debris and not as shallow as I expected.

The cross country ski trail at Como golf course was groomed this morning. The trail is a thin but still in good shape. A new classic track was set. Enjoy!

The fresh snow was coming down and getting some coverage. However the warm weather definitely hardened everything up. It was a combination of hard hard pack snow and some ice, mostly hard pack. Conditions were much better on the south side than the north.

Thanks groomer! The tracks are well set. There are only a few places where there were high spots that couldn't be tracked. The downhill near the Alpine ski hill has dirt patches, yet there is snow ski down the hill. Even with the warmer temps the snow is in good shape, firm not slushy.

Very good. I would even rate the south side as excellent I was pleasantly surprised. Although there were brown patches (thus my B ski rating) they were easily avoided so your best skis would be fine. It was one of my best skis of the season so far!

Skate-skied freshly groomed Como GC ski trail. Very nice job by groomer. There are a few spots where grooming machine dug up some dirt/grass or thin areas at top of some hills, but all can easily be skied around. Classic tracks are solid and generally about moderate depth.

Hard packed and icy; will challenge your balance! Good coverage overall with some thin spots that are avoidable and look like mostly grass poking through. The two worst sports are marked with green painted arrows. Take caution on the downhill by the alpine slope so those spots don't catch you by surprise.

City of St. Paul groomed this morning; blown snow not withstanding, the trails are 95% in excellent shape and the few brown spots are easy to avoid, for both freestyle and classic! There were a few flurries this morning, the strong wind picked up the minimal snow and deposited it in the tracks and on the corduroy. Made the workout a little harder, but no complaints, we'll take any snow we can get!
