Notes

Some of the best trails in southern Minnesota. Tucked in the valley behind the school, the trails run around the northern slopes of the valley making them quite challenging and also well protected from the sun. Some lighted sections, and snowmaking operations.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Beautiful Skiing. The snow coverage for the first time was awesome with no worries about hitting a rock here or there. I love the lit loops in the evening. Highly recommend!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
All trails appear to be open now, and grooming is spectacular. Classic tracks are nice and firm. Corduroy for skating is also firm and fast, according to others I met who were skating.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed up great today for skating. Very few dirt spots. Classic track is hard and glazed with a dusting of snow over it with some debris also. Silent sport doesn’t apply to very cold snow!

First time skiing here and the classic trails were in phenomenal condition with the new snow! A couple slightly bare spots but nothing major.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skated Saturday morning and was pleasantly surprised how well the 2-3” we received groomed out. The groomers set track and that also looked great. The good snow is thin though, saw couple dirty spots in tracks. Get out there and ski everything in!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Today I went over all of our trails with very a very light scratch and comb. We had about an inch of new snow over a very thin base. All trails are covered, but not by much, thus the rock ski recommendation. No classic track set.

Skated at SMU today. Good coverage but thin. Occasional rock and dirt under thin base. Fast but rutted. Needs grooming but its too thin to groom without bringing up debris. Hope for the inch of snow and that will do wonders. No classic track. Skiing Westfield and start skiing in a loop.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Today was pretty good for skating. Better glide. It’s definitely early seasons conditions thin base and lumpy. But all trails have coverage. Upper trails are very rocky, don’t take your good skis up there. Rock skis are recommended. No track set, too thin of a base.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We received 3-4 inches of new snow today. All trails were rolled Tuesday night. Snow cover was too thin and soft to set a classic track. Recommend B skis for skating and classic (no set track) on the lower trails. Highly recommend rock skis on the upper trails.

[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
Warm temps took their toll, we're back to bare ground. We walked Yon's side of the system and picked up branches. If you'd like a walk, go to the Gilmore side of the trails and pickup branches -- help get us ready for the next snow.
