Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
In EC for a hockey game and stopped by here for a quick ski on way out of town. Not seeing any reports earlier in the week, I called the Parks department on Thursday and they said they hoped to be open by the weekend since they were busy clearing trails from the recent heavy wet snow that brought down a lot of branches etc. in the area. I wasn't sure if it would be open or skiable so pleasantly surprised to find fresh grooming with a rock solid base and fast deck. I skated most of the trail system (no tracks set anywhere) It was mostly fresh firm corduroy, fast and very fun skiing. Loved the long big hills! Definitely evidence of storm damage with the occasional rough/debris spot but didn't deter having a great ski and always look at these situations as an opportunity to fine tune the skill set. I was using good skis but if you are particular about a possible scratch, use B skis.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
I classic skied in the tire tracks at 8:00 this morning. I forgot about the muzzle loading season and left after 30 minutes. The County has been driving various vehicles around the trails in order to remove fallen limbs. No grooming has been done. You can classic ski in the tire tracks, but only nighttime skiing is allowed until the end of muzzle loading deer hunting on December 15.
