Classic skied from Mandli Cabin north on the Birkie Trail. Tracks were Klister city. Super fun. We came back on the Classic trail, no tracks but really none needed.

Skied the Birkie trail with a friend from OO north on the classic trail to the Fire Tower cabin, then south on the skate trail. Conditions were excellent on both. No bare spots. The skate trail had been more recently groomed and had good tracks as well. It was a little icy, but controllable, fast and very fun. The classic trail was crust with a layer of new snow that actually gave better control. Lots of happy skiers were out enjoying a nice day and great conditions.

Skated the Birkie trail from Trail Head to High Point and the Classic trail back. Birkie trail had perfect cord with tracks set on both sides. Super smooth and fast. Classic tracks in most cases were firm, felt like slot car tracks. The Classic trail had a layer of fresh snow that had a nice crust on top. Very nice soft skating. I didn't notice any tracks set on the Classic trail. Plenty of snow, some debris, no dirt, just great skiing.

Observation Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We will be focusing our grooming efforts from OO to Boedecker and the loops at the start going forward. However, out of an abundance of caution, the Derksen Warming Cabin at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead and the Samuel C. Johnson Family Outdoor Center at the OO Trailhead will be closed until further notice. Both buildings are public gathering spaces that we cannot adequately sanitize on a daily basis.

The Birkie Trail is still well covered and (thanks to the ABSF grooming crew) it's in great shape for some spring skiing. Get outside!

We groomed the skate trail from OO to the power lines tonight including classic tracks. The kilometer or so to the start wasn’t touched up.

Today was the best ski day of the year; Blue sky, bright sunshine, and fast cord made it one of those days you live for. The trail south of OO to Hatchery was tilled and groomed, and track set. The tracks were good, not full depth, but still good. The skate lane was SO good; chucks of ice mixed with loose snow made it fast but quite controllable. It did start to slow as the temps rose.

Just a reminder, the Fat Bike Birkie is happening on the north half of the trail tomorrow starting at 8 am. Please ski from OO south, which was groomed yesterday morning. It did snow a bit yesterday after we groomed.
