Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The weather allowed for complete grooming this morning with new traks and a groomed skate deck Trail conditions are variable as follows: Good to very good on Silver, Red, Yellow and Orange (more that 1/2 the system). The new snow in combination with re-groomed old snow yielded good coverage on the skate deck and well-defined new tracks. Fair to poor on Purple, Green, Blue and Brown. Icy and bear spots on about 1/3rd of the trail sections on these trails.

Ungroomed but somewhat skiable. Downhills were a bit sketchy. Hopefully will get groomed once temps are solidly below freezing. Decent coverage.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Purple Trail holding up well. A little rain mixed with snow made for a slightly glazed track. Classic track is showing a little wear in some spots but nothing significant.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied purple, silver (Nelson Farm trail), green and some of brown back down the rollercoaster hills. Snow is holding up well in the wooded/shady areas, grass starting to poke through in some sunny spots. Some thin areas with rocks poking through on climbs especially, debris on trails throughout but manageable. Spoke with another skier that mentioned some parts of the prairie trails were deteriorating rapidly in the sun this afternoon. Hopefully we'll see some snow soon!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the last hour before dark on the south side of the river (parts or all of blue, yellow, orange, brown and purple). Trails were in better shape than I anticipated, but B skis recommended due to some thin patches and rocks poking through. A fair amount of debris on the trails, generally avoidable but a little more challenging in the twilight. Firm and fast, which made the downhills interesting as the light faded. Lots of deer out moving around and plenty of evidence of other park residents left on the trails.

Skied the Purple trail and the loop across the river. Track was icy where it wasn't shaded and there were a few bare spots. Base still pretty good though. Here's hoping for more snow soon.

Skate deck firm and fast, recently groomed on many/most trails. Some rocks poking through on some climbs and where the snow was shallow or groomer bottomed out on a bump ... generally easily avoidable. Lots of happy skiers out enjoying the trails, fun to see all the kids on the sledding hill also.

Spectacular. About as much fun as a person should be allowed to have! Firm, fast skate deck and deep tracks. A few avoidable thin spots here and there...most noted on the open section of the purple trail. The blue ribbon goes to Willow River groomers -- great job throughout the park. We also appreciate how the park places barriers at the ski trail entrances saying "skiers only." This has really helped to guide the hikers and snowshoers to their own trails. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied between 3:30 to 4:30 pm on the front trails. The trails had not been recently groomed and a lot of skiers had been out. This made for a quick and somewhat slippery track. However, the snow felt much more packed than it has been, so this helped offset the slick conditions. More debris (leaves, twigs) on the trails than anytime since Monday of this week, but still manageable.
