The groomer did a great job. The trail was in great shape. Some of the best skiing at Hoffman I have ever experienced.

Rolled all trails last night. Groomed and tracked all this morning. Great snow! Even the tower trails are in fantastic shape!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The wind left the trails cluttered. Most of the lower trails were cleared, groomed and tracked this morning. Buck Ridge and Star Wars were not touched nor any of the tower trails. There is a big tree down across Buck Ridge near Juba's Run.

Skate deck was absolutely fabulous this morning. Conditions nearly as good as they get. Coverage is really excellent except for a couple of spots (top of Star Wars / Buck Ridge with the south exposure). Did not ski Tower trails. You could take your good skis out and it would be worth it and you could avoid the few thin places. Fast conditions and the 1/2-1" new on Sunday night gave just the perfect amount of control.

Definitely B skis, a little thin in places especially up by the tower. The snow is dense from the warm yesterday, and icy, so is a hit hard to work with. Pulled three stones and more thick sticks off the trail. Some places have more debris than others, especially uphills. A beautiful cold day to ski!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Despite warm temperatures and a bit of rain the trails groomed out beautiful! Some of the best conditions of the season. I rated them B skis as there is some leaf litter, very few brown/ dirty spots and a few twigs. Even the tower trails are in decent shape for experienced skiers. All trails were groomed and tracked this morning.

While the skate lane is pretty narrow on many sections, the classic tracks look deep and steady throughout. Decent grooming with some fresh snow on too- things are pretty fast. Had to educate multiple walkers on the trail going for their Sunday stroll in the middle of the groomed trails, but fortunately things were solid enough underneath that they didn't seem to do too much damage. Well worth a visit, and many thanks to the state groomers!

Just finished a sunset ski at Hoffman for the first time after grooming it on Wednesday. Much better than I had anticipated with a firm base and great edges. Not as many dirty spots as I had reported earlier and all easy to avoid. I had the whole place to myself, a quiet ski with peaks of sunset and a rising crescent moon. Skied most of the lower trails until it became hard to see! I did use my best skis but selected B skis for skiers who might be concerned about damage.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed the entire skate deck and set new track on about half the trails. Avoid both Squirrel Tales (North is slightly better than South) and for sure Roller Coaster. Hawk Ridge turned out good but the big hill to get to the upper trails is dirt and debris laden. The lower trails are about 85% great, 10% so so and 5% not so good. The reset classic tracks are shallow and some dirty spots, both in tracks and in skate lane that are very avoidable if paying attention. I'm planning to use my best skis and stick to the lower trails.

Classic track still holding up well this morning but needles and leaves starting to fill in. My wax did a good job of collecting some of the debris and by the time I finished, it was about half wax/half debris. Consider waxless options if you go. Skate deck looked great and there's still plenty of coverage.
