Out skating with the groomers this morning south of Irvington. Plenty of snow down. With it coming in heavy, it will take a bit to settle in and work out the lumps. Classic track looked great!

Classic skied from Downsville going north three miles and back and found the trail well groomed. There was a lot of leaf and twig debris on the trail that needs new snow to cover it up. Enjoyed the ski.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed the Red Cedar from Menomonie to Downsville with two tracks from Menomonie to Irvington and one track with a wider skate lane from Irvington to Downsville. Some leaves and sticks but overall it did not look bad as the teeth of the Tidd Tech picked up a lot of the smaller stuff.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied from the trailhead to Irvington and back. The uber-cold snow has started to settle and firm up some, equating to a slightly faster skate deck. Lots of debris (small sticks, pine branches and leaves) have blown onto the deck, thus the recommendation of B skis. Most debris is avoidable. Some sections have drifted quite a bit and have become soft/deep.

Rolled the trail from Menomonie to Downsville to pack the 6-7 inches we received. Grooming plans: With the forecast, we will wait until Monday before we groom and track it. There is plenty of snow to enjoy as I am sure a classic track will be made by skiers.

Massive props go to the grooming crew (Bill) at the RCT today for braving the cold! 7 to 8 inches of feather-light snow was rolled all the way to Downsville as I was skiing today (around noon). It will take time for everything to settle as the trails are very soft, but overall, it was a fun skate with some glide in uber-cold conditions. 100% coverage on the entire deck--safe to use your best skis.
