Conditions are slowly eroding, but the amazing crew at Mercer, have tracked the entire course, and it's firm and fantastic! Very few thin spots, tracks holding in the steeps, hard to believe, harder to leave. Get here, before things get away from us.

What a difference 15 miles makes. Kay and I drove NW to Mercer for our first ski of the season. MECCA trails were groomed tracked this morning. There were no bare spots and yesterday's light snow added to the base. What a delight! We'll be back!

Celebrating some of the deepest snow in Wisconsin, the fine folks in Mercer have created a minor miracle, turning 10 inches into a completely covered deck, some nice classic track on the Moose trail, and nearly perfect conditions. To be bathed in falling hoar frost, as you glide through valleys of pine and birch, is an experience to be remembered. Get here, while these great conditions last!

Overall, conditions were good for skate skiing. However, there were no tracks set for the classic skiers. The skate deck was firm but as the temperatures warmed during the afternoon, my glide wax proved to be a little too cold resulting in my speed slowing as the temperatures rose. The scenery was splendid with snow still clinging to the trees from the recent snowfall. It was a fairly busy day with skiers as I came across many other skiers during my 20k outing.
