Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The grooming team was out this evening rolling and packing the 5" of new powder snow. Grooming plans: Tuesday morning a team will set tracks and comb the skate lane. The surface will be soft but cold temps should help firm up the base.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
MECCA Trails is all groomed for a great weekend of skiing! Groomers worked hard on getting trails rolled yesterday, tracks were set last night, and the skate lane was groomed this morning. Tracks are firm and crisp and the skate lane has fresh corduroy. There may be some soft spots in the skate lane that should firm up after the next grooming. Enjoy this beautiful spring snow event!

Groomers were out this morning and combed the skate lane on the entire 21k trail system. The surface is firm, with some icy spots. Tracks have deteriorated and are icy due to last week's rain.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I started skiing at 11:00 am with temperatures around 34 degrees. The deck was a bit crusty and the tracks were a bit icy. However, control on the downhills was still very good. Conditions remained that way for about a hour and a half. After that, things slowed down quite a bit with the sun and warm temperatures softening and slowing things considerably. I first skied the 15k Flowage Loop and followed up with the 5k Clare Loon Loop. It was a beautiful day of xc skiing.

Once the icy crust softened up with the sun, the skate lane was mostly very nice. The tracks were adequate for striding with medium depth. They gave way somewhat on the curves. The marsh was not blown over despite the strong wind. Well worth the trip.

Good to very good overall for classic. A bit icy on some sections of the skate lane and some of the tracks but nothing too scary. Should improve as the temperature warms up.
