Awesome post rain grooming! Tracks were a bit thin and icy in a few spots, but far and away good to excellent conditions. Skate deck looked better yet. Parking lot? Death defying! Bring Yak Tracks, ski poles for balance, or my favorite, a chauffeured drop off at the front door.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Our trails really held up well to yesterday's rainfall! We had two power tiller machines out since midnight busting up the ice on the trails and re-setting some really nice skate decks and classic tracks throughout almost all the interior trails including the east side beginner trails and the west side intermediate trails. The groomed trails are in great shape with good edge control on the skate decks. The classic tracks are mostly full depth and are also in pretty good shape. We don't recommend skiing on the un-groomed trails as they are very icy. But the trails groomed for today are skiing really well!

Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We received over a half inch of rain last night. Ski trails are in variable condition ranging from icy to soft and slushy. We are still open although there will be no grooming today. Use caution if you do decide to come out to the park. Please be careful in the parking lot and around the chalet ski rack area... it's extremely icy in those spots! It's currently misting lightly. Trail base is holding up well, but repair will take a while and grooming is planned to start up again tonight.

Arrived at 1pm. Skied trails that were groomed this morning. Tracks were firm and deep except in areas with lots of sun where they had softened. Skiing on these trails were great even though temp was about 40F. Portions of the trail that had direct sun were slowest compared to the fast shaded areas. Minor needle and leaf litter on these trails. Had lots of fun skiing 25km.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I arrived around 11:00 am with temperatures already approaching 40 degrees. The classic track was already starting to soften in the sun. One had to be careful on the downhills as track speed slowed down considerably wherever it was exposed to the sun. I took a long route out to Nekoosa and Wolff Tracks which had been groomed an hour or two earlier. By the time I finished my 22 kilometers of skiing, the sun and warm temperatures made for slow going. That being said, it was still a fun ski.

I skied River Run and and few other trails around the chalet. The trails were holding up pretty well considering the warm temps. There was quite a bit of debris on River Run.

Despite the lack of new snow during the past two weeks, the Winter Park trails are in phenomenal condition! I skied classic tracks starting around 10:45 a.m. and was pleasantly surprised. Trails were perfect; not icy or mushy, and despite the strong winds, they had very little debris. It was the perfect time to be out. Around 1:00 p.m., parts of the trails that were in the sun were just starting to get soft, so time your ski adventures accordingly during these warm temperatures. Husband and friend skated and classic skied (respectively) River Run, and while enjoyable, they did report a lot of debris and suggested that Wolf Tracks might be the better option for those who want to ski one of the long trails. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful trails. The groomers at Winter Park always do a phenomenal job with the trail system and are to be highly commended for how great the conditions are given the lack of new snow and the warm temperatures!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Ski trails are in great shape right now with the Pisten Bully tilling up the trails and resetting classic tracks and skate decks last night on almost all interior trails and one long one: River Run. Skate decks are firm with good edge control and classic tracks are mostly full depth and are solid! Be sure to hit the trails early today to beat that afternoon heat.

I've never experienced better conditions or grooming, absolutely sublime! Most trails were freshly groomed, tracks are deep and firm, skate deck is hard corduroy but allows for an edge.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skate skied 22k today with a long route out to River Run and including River Run. Everything I skied had been recently groomed. However, there was a lot of debris on many sections of River Run. Other than the debris, I would rate overall conditions as very good. The skate deck was solid and fast with good control on the downhills. I did not encounter any icy conditions. It was a wonderful afternoon of freestyle skiing. Minocqua Winter Park does a consistent job of delivering awesome skiing!
