Arrived at Winter Park when it open this morning. The area had received a couple of inches of new snow during the night. No grooming was completed today. The first pass over a trail was a little slow as you were pushing the new snow in the track. Felt a little frustrated for the first hour but the beauty of the fresh fallen snow on the trails and trees won out in the end. There were enough skiers that by mid-morning most of the trails had enough traffic that the day was very enjoyable.

What an improvement from Dec 27th. Grooming was great and some but minimal debris on the trails. Yesterday was very cold, today still cold but better! As long as you are dressed for the cold it’s fine!

Skied Lake Marie, Wolf Tracks and River Run. The groomers had all the trails in absolutely perfect conditions with a firm skate deck. We will certainly be coming back for the long MLK weekend.

Two words explain my experience at MWP today: Fun and Fast! Skied on top of a dusting of snow. Tracks were deep and firm. No problems controlling speed on downhills. There were a few areas of leaf and pine litter, but were easily avoided.

It was a great day to hit up the freshly groomed Nutcracker and Windy Ridge trails! It was groomed to near perfection! Tracks were solid and deep where freshly groomed. Any glazed spots from all the holiday traffic are now covered with yesterday‘s snowfall. The inch or two of fresh snow was fluffy enough that it didn’t bother me while skiing on older trails (a lot of the old tracks were already skied in anyways).

Skied 20k today - trails are starting to set up nicely after the recent snowfall. Main trails (Strider, Nebco’s, XC Express and Base Loop) are packed and ski great. Wolf Tracks had some soft spots but was getting groomed today. Tornado Alley skied well. Get out and enjoy the great skiing!

The core trails were all groomed today but none of the outer trails. Conditions were very good and the scenery with the new fallen snow was spectacular. I skate skied 19K on the interior loops. The skate deck was of medium firmness. The track was not fast but not slow either. It was a perfect close to 2019.

A fairy tale wonderland after a 7-8” dump. Groomer folk had worked their magic with track/skate lane on the inner loops and longer Wolf Tracks. Softish didn’t matter as we ducked and twisted our way out of snow laden branches while kicking and punching our way along. Slight icing may have been over waxing or wetness working up from the bottom. Sure to freeze up tonight. A jammed packed parking lot gave way to silence and solitude the further out from the chalet you worked. A fine way to finish the year.
