Notes

Afterglow Ski Trails are groomed for skate and classic 5-7 times a week with a Tidd Tech G2. The full width groomed trails are protected by a thick mixed hardwood forest with trees right to the trails edge. A large heated warm up room is perfect to wait for the diehards in your group. Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Open to the public at noon. All Afterglow trails skate and classic tracks have been groomed twice since 2am. Excellent conditions exist. All trees and branches have been removed from the trail. 8" new. Phelps trail has a 50 feet section with water to the surface so we were unable to groom the Phelps trail.

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent skating on the trail: firm base with tilled up coarse sugar. Fast, flat, and very edge-able, downhills just great, no chatterbox pizza wedge needed. Pete, an alchemist for sure, took prospective boilerplate and turned it into gold! Classic track was flat, fast and firm. Start Oslo, a hard wax/klister mix, worked just fine at 26-34F on tilled up transformed base. Leaves and needles did not slow the glide much.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent late season conditions. All skate lanes groomed. Most classic tracks reset. Deep mid February snow. We are currently shoveling our roofs due to snow weight. The thick forest here shaded almost the entire system and the snow groomed up perfectly.

Spent the last two days skiing Afterglow and the trails are in superb shape. Plenty of snow and groomed, as always, to perfection! A skier could not ask for more, truly outstanding! Both tracks and skate deck were in great shape.

Skied two hours on perfectly groomed trails. Skating deck was a little soft but was still very fast. Pete did a great job packing 2 feet plus snow we got last few weeks. Thanks for all the work you put into your trails, Pete.

Firsthand: Classic Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed, Good skis ]
All Afterglow Trails (ski, snowshoe and Fat Bike) will open Friday the 13th at 9am. Trails have been groomed 9 times already and are dead flat edge to edge and end to end. The Forest Service has finally fixed Trail 5 (Bobs Trail). About 15 years ago someone pulled out about 8 culverts and just let the water run across the road. Locals rutted this trail so deep I would get ejected from my snowmobile multiple times each year when I first groomed. All culverts have been replaced and hundreds of loads of road gravel have been smoothed out on trail 5. There is a very deep snow pack for this time of year, to the point we need to shovel our roofs soon. Looking forward to seeing many smiling faces this weekend.
