Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Arrived at 11 AM with temps at 28 degrees. 2" of fresh, somewhat moist, un-groomed powder made for a little extra work. Rex G21G spray glided really well in the moist new snow. Sounds like they are holding off on grooming until the temps fall and the next batch of snow gets through. For skating, the powder depth was at about the limit of what is comfortable to ski on without making a lot of extra work. The new snow has really cleaned up the trails and covered all the tree debris from the past couple of weeks. Because there are still a lot of branches lurking underneath I wouldn't take out your best race skis until things are groomed.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trails were in pretty good shape overall. I found it a little odd that the classic tracks moved from the right side to the left side of the trail. It was cold this morning so the snow was slow. The skate deck was really firm - but there was enough give to maintain control on the downhills. Couple of icy spots throughout the course. There was considerable leaf litter and twigs in areas.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skated the Outer Loop during late afternoon. Skate deck is very firm with just a couple of icy spots lingering from the thaw a couple weeks ago. Still a lot of tree debris scattered on the trail and I spent a lot of time flicking branches off the trail the past couple of days. Some small sections have a washboard surface which I'm not sure whether its due to the natural surface of the ground or grooming. Not a big deal, but makes for a bumpy ride in those sections. Due to the amount of tree branches, twigs, acorns, etc I have been leaving my A skis at home to avoid scratching them up. Thanks to the groomers!

Evening
Firsthand: Both Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We have now been able to groom the entire Outer Loop because the former wet spots are now frozen solid. All trails were groomed either this morning or evening with new corduroy and tracks. Conditions are very good except for a couple of icy spots where it was wet on the outer loop. Also, there is some tree debris in places, but it's not a major problem. I skied many of the trails this afternoon. It was cold, but glide was decent and the trails were very nice overall.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
I had a great ski this afternoon and conditions are good+ overall. A very light dusting of new snow over a firm groomed base. A lot of happy faces. We're still dealing with an occasional ice spot from when it was wet, and today's wind put some tree debris on the trail.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Set the first skate marks on a freshly groomed trail. I skied the whole trail system, even the section, on the outer loop that had not been groomed, since the groomer hit a rather large wet spot, that you need to take you skis of to walk on. Even though it was groomed last night it was still pretty soft. Felt like I was floating on the soft corduroy. I had not been here in a while and forgot how hilly it can get. Elevation change rivals the Birkie trail. All in all, a great day at Timberland Hills!

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Friday night we groomed all trails (except the portion of the Outer Loop from the Corkscrew Trail to the Bridge, which still has water issues), including new tracks on most sections. We opened the section of the Outer Loop from the Engagement Loop to the Corkscrew Trail. Overall conditions are good for the weekend.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Almost all trails are open except for one that's flooded. Skiing was excellent, Piston Bully groomed with wide and level skate lanes and deep solid classic tracks. Skaters were all smiles, one of the best classic skis I have had all season. There is terrain for everyone, plenty of hills but easier sections too, including a great skijoring loop. Worth the drive.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We have been out grooming with the Pisten Bully and most trails are in good condition for skating and classic. We have some water problems on the Outer Loop from letters I to G on the map. We recommend skiing the other trails at this time. Enjoy!

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The temperature has dropped below freezing. We groomed the Short Loop and Alternate Trail this morning - conditions are good on those trails. The rest of the trail system is icy, but skiable. Of course the conditions this weekend are dependent on the weather - think snow!
