Kudos to those hard working groomers who take the machine out seven days a week! We had a perfect skate deck and impeccable tracks on the yellow trail for our group of 6 year olds to 60 somethings! I highly recommend getting out to the Superior Municipal Forest trails! Where else can you get 7 day a week grooming, with the variety of terrain in the area?

All trails were groomed today and the skate deck was widened where possible. Track was reset where needed and track was added on the inner purple loop. Seven day per week grooming will begin the week of January 7th.

This is a great trail system in the Billings Park neighborhood of Superior. Skate lane was freshly groomed, but somewhat soft. Classic tracks were great for the most part. Somewhat shallow under the pine trees and some sticks/grass showing here and there. The blue and yellow loops were not groomed for classic. Plenty of snow depth in the skating lane, but could use a couple more inches for the classic tracks. Had to remind a walker with a dog that they shouldn't be on the ski trail. A bummer since it had been freshly groomed. We basically have no snow in Eau Claire, so today was like a winter wonderland!

All of the trails were freshly groomed today. Track is set on trails north of 42nd Street and conditions are looking good.

We are having mechanical issues with the new groomer this morning, therefore only trails north of 42nd Street will be groomed with the snowmobile today. There will be no grooming on New Year's Day.

Great to be skiing in Superior. Last week's storm brought some rain with the snow, resulting in a heavy, wet, 4 or 5 inches of the white stuff over the saturated ground. Everything is dried out and frozen down, and most surfaces are snow covered, although there are several patches of frozen slush (nothing hazardous). All trails except the blue have received a combination of packing and grooming, no classic tracks have been set. Ski conditions are mixed, some uneven and bumpy, some smooth and flat. Several improvements have been made to this system during the off-season, including widening, tree trimming and culvert repairs, but nothing as exciting as the new trail segment connecting the purple and yellow trails. Good stuff!

Absolutely beautiful out on these trails! The snow fall is just beautiful in the forest. And great grooming for the first big snow of the year!
