Excellent freshly groomed trails today! We skied the red and green and found perfect tracks and new cord! Well worth the drive over anytime since they groom 7 days a week!

Once again it was well worth the trip over the bridge to have a freshly groomed morning ski! The classic tracks were pristine by 11 am as well as the fresh firm cord on the skate deck! Huge thank you to those hard working groomers for making it so perfect so quickly after a snow! Seven day a week grooming is awesome! I skied the red and green today.

I was shocked to see an 8 without a negative sign in front of it this morning. Knowing the forecast I took advantage ang headed across the bridge for Sup- town. As usual the groomers were out. But, alas, they had yet to set a track. I broke trail for an hour or so was going to leave. But when I got back to the car... new track! So I did a few more K. Was it cold? Nope. Was it a solid track? Nope... but I bet it is now.

I had to post again about the great conditions at SMF. Once again, fresh grooming on all trails. It was a bit slow for skate but what do you expect at 5 degrees. The best trail, yellow, has firmed up and is in excellent condition. Hiker and fatbike tracks on the Blue but no significant trail damage (please, at least stay to the side of the trail)-- I do miss the hills on the old Blue. Again, thank you so much SMF trail crew for all your work on these awesome trails. Please, please, please support this gem of the Twin Ports.

Driving across the bridge to Superior is always worth it with the seven day a week grooming, it is a daily treat! We classic skied and one skate skied the red and green today. The fresh beautiful cord crafted by the talented groomers along with the firm deep classic tracks were perfect! This week the trails are free to ski on...however, purchasing a pass is inexpensive and worth every penny! Plenty of out of the wind trails to explore during the deep freeze too!

Conditions at SMF are wonderful - smooth, freshly groomed. They did not get as much snow as Duluth (I would estimate about 3" over a hard base). As usual, it was perfectly groomed. A tad slow for skate but not as bad as I thought it would be. The red and green are a little firmer and faster (have seen more traffic). Blue, purple and yellow are a little softer. Coverage is excellent except for a couple small avoidable thin/dirty areas, mainly on the new purple connector (love it by the way--not having to use the snowmobile trail to get to the yellow trail is a great addition and, bonus, it adds a few K onto the whole loop). Kudos to Superior for adding this trail connector. Skiing over there is free this week but I encourage everyone to support this great, well maintained and scenic trail and buy a season pass and get out there!

The red, green and blue trails were groomed today. Track was set on the red and green. A reminder this is free ski week, so no pass needed through Sunday the 27th.

I was finally able to ski at Superior today and arrived about 11:30am with a 0 degree reading. The first thing I did was sign up for my season pass. At $30 it is probably the best value around. There is nearly daily grooming and today didn't disappoint. My skis were freshly waxed with LF5 on the right ski and CH4 on the left ski. Just an experiment to see if there was a difference. Starting out at the 28th Street lot I hit the Green back to the back parking lot. It was freshly groomed and I was the first skater on the deck. It was excellent. The base was rock hard with about 1" or slightly more of fresh groomed cord. I crossed over and started on the Yellow to do a lap on Brown's point. I could tell this was groomed yesterday and catching edge was still possible. The hill side of the Yellow had a lot of debris and could use a couple more inches of snow. The flat return side was very nice and fast. I took the new Purple back after completing the Brown's point loop. The new Purple could also use more snow as there was debris on the deck. I got back to the Green and followed it back to the Red. All this was freshly groomed and great. I returned back on the short segment of the Green where I started and all I saw was my tracks going out. It felt like I was alone and I guess I was. Oh yeah, no difference between the LF5 and CH4. The temp when I ended was 3 degree. The cold froze my phone so I couldn't take any pictures to share. Thanks groomers and for all that haven't been to Superior I would highly recommend it.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The groomer reports the red trail is icy, other trails are a bit better. Scattered tree litter on trails. Track is now set on all trails. In conjunction with the Lake Superior Ice Festival January 25 -27th, the community will be able to access all City of Superior cross country ski trails at no cost the week of January 21st - January 27th. Passes will not be required or checked during this time and we encourage the public to get out and enjoy and explore the trails.

Wow. What a great ski! I had an urge to ski for a long time nice and easy. What's the perfect remedy for that? The Sup-Town Muni Trails of course. I arrived at 8:30 a.m. and the groomers were already out. While some of the trails, especially the ones nearest the 27th Avenue parking lot, where absolute perfection. Some of them were covered with a lot of organic detritus. Thus the recommendation of B skis. Overall it was a spectacular ski. Everything is groomed including all of the cut arounds for the hills adding on a few extra k. Also the new purple trail that saves you from having to ski on the snowmobile trail! That's pretty awesome. Was it perfect? Nope. Was it a little sketchy? Yep. Was it awesome? Absolutely!
