2019-2020 season

Was groomed on Monday, and although there are skier ruts, they aren't a problem since the snow didn't solidly freeze last night. Surprisingly fast. Ice patches here and there and in open areas such as logged out areas and the swamp, there is some bare ground. But I'm not complaining. My thanks to the 9 Mile groomers. Great season.

Some of the trails had a freshly groomed skate deck when I started at 9:30. Parts of the 6K loop, M,N, A and X were groomed and had a soft top layer over icy spots. Other trails were icy and hard to grip. Saw one person in the classic tracks. The trails were pretty fast. When I left at 11:00 am there were 10 cars in the lot. Chalet is closed.

If this was it for the season, the groomers ought to get a medal. If the season continues, a trophy is due. The further from the chalet, the better it got, granted it was slowing down as the sun and temps acted as natural brakes. ALPS was perfect spring conditions. Thank you all for the pandemic break!

Excellent grooming! Only trail segment not groomed were the ALPS, but found a covering of powdered snow on top the firm base and it was wonderful too. Found only a few bare spots and were water had gathered and puddled. Great spring skiing with trail system being dedicatedly groomed. Thanks you groomers for a excellent season of top shelf grooming!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
With the current base at Nine Mile, we have decided to continue to groom twice per week for as long as we can. With the overnight snow, our groomer was out this morning. I just received a report from him that he has laid a new classic track and skate track on the lighted loop, 6k, Y and is currently on the 10k. He also believes he can get the 20k done today. Conditions are good with the exception of the finish area, which isn't in great condition. The chalet remains closed but passes can be purchased at the pay tube located at the entrance.

Arrived at 9:30 to hear that the 10k and 6k loops had been groomed this morning, so I skied those. The skate deck was in good shape for the most part with no debris or brown spots. Icy fast with thin areas in the pine woods and in the sun areas from thawing and freezing overnight. The classic tracts had not been groomed since Sunday and looked icy hard. Starting to soften up when we left at 11:00 and the temp was 34 and sunny.

Fair skiing, a bit icy and fast. Classic track is set throughout, and is a bit like a luge run in places. Skate lane is hard, level, and rutted in places. I did not encounter any bare spots, but there is some debris on the trail. There were a few deer out and about that did not seem afraid of humans. The trails are well laid out with excellent signage. Rumor has it that tomorrow will be the last official day these trails are open for the season.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Sunday will be the last day that the chalet is open. You will be welcome to ski the trails after that however the grooming will be stopped. Today we groomed the lit, Y, 6k and part of the 10k. The trails are still in decent condition, with a few small bare spots. Thank you for the banner year. We hope to see you again next year. Come visit this summer for hiking or biking.

Conditions are average. We have an average base of about 4-6" in the woods, less on the south facing hills. With the constant thaw by day and freeze by night, it is a little icy in spots. Today was the final day we will groom for the season and the Chalet closes at the end of the day Sunday. Thank you to those that visited for a great season!

No need to go anywhere else to ski today. Nine Mile is the place. 12 Miles of skating bliss. The Pistonbully is back up and running and doing its thing. Skate lanes excellent, tracks were set deep in the soft snow overnight. Can't go wrong today.
