Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Some of the most enjoyable classic skiing I have done in a while. The couple of inches that fell last night really made a difference. Sunny day, great snow, perfectly groomed trails. A great first time experience in Wausau that makes me want to come back soon.

Beautiful day, sunny, not too cold though little windy out of the woods. The 20 K loop classic tracks were very good as the 1-2 inches of overnight snow helped cover the oak leaves although there were still occasional stretches with debris. Overall I rate the skiing very good/excellent. Skating likewise.

Skied my virtual Noque here. -4 at the start. Snow was very slow, but was corduroy the entire way. There was a little debris and a few brown spots, but overall, very good (especially as someone who normally skis at Lapham). The Alps section was a lot of fun!

Variable conditions at Nine Mile today at times the trails looked super, wide even corduroy with great tracks, then you would see tracks filled with oak leaves and debris with dirt spots on the skate deck. Frustrating to say the least. To be safe I would use B skis and hope for the best.

Two inches Sunday morning changed everything! Fabulous conditions today skiing classic on this new powder. No new grooming since the snowfall made for a nice and smooth velvet. Almost covered all the leaves, and those recently fallen were not really an obstacle today. Very fast conditions. Same for skate. Just enough snow fell to cover the dirt spots.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails are currently open. Trail are in good shape. Received less than 1" of snow yesterday but enough to freshen things up. Grooming schedule is down to maintenance grooming on Tuesday's and Friday's until more snow is received.

Classic skied the 20K loop, and while the tracks were well set, the amount of leaves, and similar, in the tracks was really high. This created what I would rate as overall poor conditions. I was using skin skis, and I still spent the vast majority of my time on the deck. People were taking off their skis and walking back to the chalet! It was clear that the base was likely too thin to reset tracks, so fingers crossed for several inches of snow soon!..:)).

Skate deck was firm and very well groomed. Skied the 20 k loop and the Alps segment. The interior areas had been more visited by skiers, yet all areas were firm and even. Did not hit any anything with my ski bases. Some areas needed to be negotiated with dirt showing. With just a few inches of new snow conditions will be excellent. The Alps hadn’t seen much ski traffic at all and were in great shape! Excellent grooming work!

Secondhand
I called the chalet, knowing that the oak leaves had inundated the tracks and conditions weren't great on Tuesday night when I skied. Was told that the groomer was out today from what she's heard from skiers today, the grooming didn't help the leaves much and oak leaves continue to be a problem.

6K classic trail was just awful today. Most of the trail was covered with oak leaves and nearly impossible to ski. Very dangerous hitting leaves on the trail especially when going fast downhill. I wiped out three times from leaves then gave up, took my skis off and walked the rest of the trail. Very disappointed.
