Trail Reports

2018-2019 season
Reports 40 to 41 of 41    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Sunday, December 30, 2018
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Additional grooming since yesterday afternoon: the first couple km of the main trail up to the warming hut, down the "birkie" hill and on to the junction with the upper shortcut and Finland; Haug's cutoff. Trail still soft (I was losing a good deal of pole on the uphills) and some of the hills are churned-up quite a bit. Surprising number of skiers out today. Classic tracks in good shape.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Snow drought is over! As of this afternoon, about 5 km of trail had been groomed. Center of skate lane was a bit soft, and avoid the margins as skis become submarines. Classical tracks were in good shape, but also soft in spots. Grooming was done earlier today so the trails need to set up. Paul (groomer) was out while I was skiing and busting through the deep snow on the ungroomed trail sections. He said he was hoping to get the main trail groomed for tomorrow, but not Deep Woods and Finland. Needless to say with overnight lows of nearly -20F things were pretty slow. Plenty of snow so coverage is excellent.
