Monday, December 19, 2022
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails were covered with about 1/2" of fresh fluff above a nicely groomed base. Both skate and classic. Skate lane much faster than yesterday. Still a few low hanging branches due to the weight of snow from last week's storm.

The trails have been groomed and are in great shape. Below zero today, so the snow was S-L-O-W!

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed all trails tonight. All trails have a skating deck a set of classical tracks. Deep Woods trail is groomed for skating only. Some branches are still hanging low. With the cold weather the trails should set up!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Two inches of new powder over moderately firm base. Trails were groomed yesterday, but new and wind-blown snow have covered the corduroy. Snowing and blowing most of the time we skied (11-12:30), slowing down some stretches - but not too slow. Some tracks set and in places lightly dusted. We were told by another skier that Finland was drifted over. Lot of snow after the storm, and quite the winter wonderland out here.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skating deck and a set of classic tracks on all trails. Watch for low hanging branches due to snow and ice on trees. Expect some drifts on Finland trail.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
With a fair amount of traffic this morning the trails have skied in very nicely. There are still a few marginal spots. There probable will not be enough snow to set any track until they get more snow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skied 10k of the trails. The 3" of snow from Tuesday night was groomed yesterday. No tracks were set. About a third of the trail was very good, a third was still a little soft, and the last third was thing and marginal.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Warm temperatures and bright sunshine are taking their toll, but the trails are hanging in there! Temperature was 32F when we started this morning at 9:30 and was close to 40 when we finished at 11:30. There are some stretches that now resemble swiss cheese, but still plenty of good skiing despite the weather. Some grooming was done this morning, and Mark the groomer was going to wait until the trails harden-up before anymore will be done.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Started skiing at noon with temperatures at the start being 29F, finishing around 1:20 and the temperature has risen to about 32F. I tended to ski the shadier parts of the trail system, and I didn't see any bare spots so coverage remains good. Skate deck is softening but not a problem, and neither were the sunnier stretches where the snow was wetter. The trails have seen considerable traffic and where the snow is a little deeper they can be rougher, but here again not an issue. Still recommending rock skis, especially if the snow pack diminishes in the coming days.
