[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Trails groomed this morning are in very good shape. Skate deck is firm, but slower – especially in the shade – because of the air temperatures (mid-teens) and grooming having brought up some older dry powder. We thought slightly faster as we were finishing our day at 12:30. Tracks are in good condition and pristine along some stretches.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Finland trail is still closed. All other trails have skating lane and a set of classic tracks. Trails look good and firm base. After grooming in the fresh powder from last night the trails should be faster. Happy new year!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Given the traffic and warm-then-cold temperatures the skate deck has firmed up considerably. The deck can be a little soft on less used sections. Surface is a bit rough due to the aforementioned traffic. Classical track are in good shape, and while double-poling we thought pretty fast. Still some leaves and small twigs here and there, but they present no problem. Coverage is excellent.

With warmer temperatures (low 30s) the snow had a slightly higher moisture content, but still was reasonable fast. Leaving at 12:30 the temperature was about 33 F. Also, one can bushwhack on the Finland and Deep Woods loops as there's plenty of snow but they remain un-groomed.

Much of the trail system was groomed. Skate deck is fairly firm with a few somewhat softer sections but everything we skied skied nicely. Where tracks were set they were in good condition, and when double-poling in them seemed to be pretty fast. Given the winds we've had there's some litter of leaves and twigs but not bad. Very nice skiing today in mid-20F temperatures. Note that I choose "most trails open" following groomer's comment re Finland and Deep Woods having not been groomed recently. One could ski these if one wanted to I suppose.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Managed to cut majority of trees and branches off of main trail. Skating lane and a set of classic tracks on whispering pines and connecting trails. It groomed very well. Finland and Deep Woods are still closed.

Skied Whispering Pines and the Shortcuts. These trails were skied in well. There are still some low hanging branch from the ice and snow. No classic tracks yet!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Merry Christmas! I just got through some of the trail system. Finland and Deep woods are closed due to drifting and trees down. Whispering pines has a skating lane groomed. Some branches are still hanging low over the trails. I plan on cutting them this week. By the time I was done grooming tonight there were another 2 inches of powder on the trail.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
There was 2-3 inches of new, cold snow on top of a variety of base conditions. I skied the outer trail (Whispering Pines). The problem is the hundreds of small trees and branches of larger trees that are weighted down with snow and hanging over the trail. It is like a tunnel in some places.
