The extra 2" to 3" of snow sure helped the old crusty snow conditions. Tracks are set and mostly in OK condition, there are a few spots that you should lift a ski out of the track. Looked like the skate deck was in decent shape most places too. Just like everywhere in the area, we could use more snow!

We got 2 inches of snow in last night's storm. Groomed this morning and the new snow helped slow down the trails a bit (they were lightning fast last week with the warm weather). Trails are in great condition. Beautiful day.

Pleasantly surprised with the trail conditions even thought it's 40 degrees outside. Snow is fast for skate skiing. A few bare spots but nothing on hills. No surprises. In good condition.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails are in race condition . . . in fact we are hosting the Central Lakes Conference High School Nordic Races today (Thursday.) Six teams, roughly 200 skiers, will be out on the course. This afternoon is not the day to come and expect to ski casually as almost every trail will be part of the ski course. Race should be done by 6 pm.

Skied the Arb's Trails Tuesday night. Trails in great shape; classic tracks looked good as well. Looking forward to Sunday's Lumberjack Jaunt!

Excellent skating Monday evening. Skate lane had been groomed earlier and it made a perfect fast skate surface of a little bit of soft old snow over a hard base. Classic track is a few day old and a bit glazed, but not totally ice. Several short sections with thin snow coverage. Brainerd High School team and Brainerd Nordic Ski Club will be shoveling snow Tuesday and again later in the week to cover the thin spots for a school race Thursday and the Lumberjack Jaunt Sunday. Northstar trails were not groomed recently so they are probably a bit harder and glazed.

A great ski Friday afternoon. I expected the trails to slushy and the tracks to be worn down, but except where walkers have crushed the classic trails, the snow conditions and tracks were very good. Thank you groomers!

Today was great, especially considering the amount of snow we've had. Full coverage now and track is in good shape almost everywhere. Conditions were fast today, fastest for me this year to date.

Trails packed and tracked Monday after 3 inches on Sunday. Snow depth on trails about 5 inches with the upper half packed powder and the bottom half very hardpacked and slightly transformed snow. About 7 inches in the woods. A very few areas with dirty snow, the only real bad area is by the two lone trees at the southwest edge of the start field. Classic track often set down into the hardpack/transformed base with more dirt areas than the skate deck.

Reported by the Alexandria Nordic ski club: The ski trail is in good condition to excel. A little slow due to the new light snow. No open dirt spots.
