Didn't seem like they got quite as much snow as the Blue Hills but the groomer did a great job with the snow they did get. Only a couple dirty spots further back on the 13k trail. Had a great day skiing. Skate trail looks good as well just awaiting someone to ski it. Of all the trails in NW Wisconsin I think this is one of my favorites. Rolling topography gives great variety and the trail runs through multiple forest cover types that vary throughout its length. Add in the occasional pothole lake or bog and the erratic's and there is plenty to keep your interest. I especially enjoy the large white pine in the stands along the 13k loop. One stand on the back side of that loop has a lot of balsam as well and, with the snow just hanging in the trees, it's darn near magical.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Thanks to the efforts of our volunteer groomer Bruce, Mukwonago was groomed today! 3-4 inches of new snow was worked into the trail. Everything is looking very good. The tracks and deck should set up great for the rest of the week. The big race is rapidly approaching, come on out and get a few k's in your National Forest.

Not bad at all in a low snow year. I used my B skis but good skis would probably be safe. Mukwonago has great rolling terrain and fantastic scenery. We skied out to the end at Bulldog Springs. It's narrow by today's standards, maybe a little better for classic than skate. If you're old like me, you remember when all trails were like this. Still, an awesome adventure. There was an inch or two of very light snow on top of a hard, somewhat uneven, deck. More snow will help. Classic tracks were deep and nicely set. Best of all, it was a free day for MLK Day. Next free day is President's Day, February 15, I think the sign said.

I skied all of the trails, classic. The trails overall were very good, no bare ground. There was were placed with some small trees sticking through. I had fresh powder on top of what had been groomed so plowed through that as I skied. Some others were out too so I could see where they had skied in the powder. Some downhills were a bit treacherous. Mostly the classic tracks were good, the skate deck was a bit lumpy on longer steep downhills. I took a spill on one with lumps, and was more cautious after that. Thank you for the grooming reports Katie, it helped to make the decision to try this trail out even though it wasn't in optimal conditions - I will be back!

[ Rock skis ]
We skied here Sunday morning. Pros: overall pretty good classic tracks. Scenery was beautiful with the fresh snow. Con: it appeared the trail system was not mowed in the fall. There is a large amount of brush poking through on big parts of the trail system. There would need to be significant amounts of new snow to remedy this. The brush is easier to avoid for classic than skating.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Mukwonago received 3-4 inches of very wet heavy snow on Thursday night. Thankfully it dried up some overnight and made for perfect grooming today. The tracks look good and the skate deck is a little soft, but nice and even. The 13 K Loop is a little thin in places, so that’s why I’m recommending B skis. There are a few areas with the dirty snow from dirt and leaves and some brush sticking up in places. It’s all mostly avoidable. Monday is a free fee day at Federal day-use sites. Should be a great weekend for skiing!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Mukwonago received about 5-6 inches of snow just before Christmas. All loops were rolled today. We'll need more snow before we can groom and set tracks. If you want to get out on the trails, definitely use rock skis. It is beautiful out there! The snow is thin in areas, and there are some sticks and debris in the trail. There is also some brush that bent over the sides of the trail in places from the snow load. We'll work on getting that trimmed up after the holiday. Happy New Year!
