Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Mukwonago received about 5 inches of fluffy snow. Thanks to Bob for going out and grooming the 2 Km, 4 Km, and 7Km loops! The trail should firm up nicely with the cold temperatures. The 13 Km loop has been cleared, and dragged once. There were about 25 trees across it. We'll hopefully get it packed and ready for grooming next week!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Beautiful day out at Mukwonago grooming! There is about 6 inches of new snow. I dragged and then groomed the 2k, 4k, and 7k loops. We started clearing the 13k this week, but it still needs some work before we can groom it. The tracks looked great and the skate ski lane was a little soft, but hoping it'll freeze up overnight. There is a separate snowshoe trail at Mukwonago, as well! Will be a great weekend to get out on the trails!

A hard working Forest Service crew worked on the Mukwonago Trails today. We started clearing the 13 Km loop, but didn't get very far. We'll keep at it next week. The 2, 4 and 7 Km loops were all groomed and tracked. Pole plants still seem soft in places. The skate deck is nice in wide, but also soft in places. It should firm up more overnight! Happy skiing! There is a separate snowshoe trail at Mukwonago, as well!

After striding at Rock Lake, Joanie and I skated the 7.5k loop here, based on Katie's report from yesterday. Considering the amount of new snow, the skate lane was fairly firm and made for a fun ski. Although the far end of the 13k loop was not open due to trees and branches down, we really appreciate the efforts made to keep the first half of this trail open. Our skiing today included our two longtime favorite trails in the Cable/Hayward area. Thanks again for the great grooming!

All loops except the 13 Km loop at Mukwonago was groomed today. The snow in the woods is over knee deep, so there is a lot of snow to deal with! The tracks look very good, and I moved them away from the edge a little bit to have more firm pole plants. The skate deck should harden overnight, but I would expect to find some soft sections. We rolled yesterday, and I went over each loop 3-4 times with the groomer today. It's absolutely gorgeous out there! The 13 K loop still needs to be cleared of trees and brush from the big storm last December. Happy Trails!

All hard packed and badly rutted. Track was in poor shape with lots branches and twigs frozen in. It felt dangerous to equipment and body, so we bailed after a half k.

All but the 13.6K loops were groomed. Lots of debris from fallen snow, which covered about 25% of the 7k loop. Skied on the classic tracks. Skate skiing available, but looked less maintained.

Trails were ungroomed, soft, and full of debris. Though beautiful, not an ideal day to ski. I skied the 4.4k. Hoping the crews get out to clear debris and groom before the overnight freeze.

Mukwonago has several feet of snow now. Crews worked very hard to remove trees and brush from the trail. We were able to groom the 2, 4, and 7 Km loops today. The tracks should set up very nicely. The skate deck is looking smooth but will be a little soft. There are a few branches out there also. The 13 Km loop has not been cleared or groomed yet. Happy Holidays!
