Notes

Small park near the end of the Gateway Trail. There is beautiful scenery with trails winding through pine forest, and near small lakes and picturesque farms. The course is quiet, sheltered, and has a lot of fun roling hills. Most of the terrain is intermediate in difficulty.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
It was such a fun morning skiing at Pine Point Park. With the dusting of snow last night, it appeared the firm skate deck provided enough edging for a sure push off. The classic tracks were very firm and well set under the fluffy white stuff. Skins, green hard wax and whatever was on my vintage Skilom woodies worked great, as long as you maneuvered around the fallen chunks of bark, some leaf debris and small pine cones. I love natural snow skiing. Thanks groomers!

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Conditions were mostly very good for skating. Staff did a good job of creating an approachable and a very edge worthy skate deck. The only difficulty occurred on the short up hill portion under the spruce trees on the pond trail west of the parking lot and north of the Gateway trail. The classic tracks were solid, but gripable, with short sections of leaves in the usual spots. A nice hour plus ski. All the parking lot skier tailgaters I encountered were smiling and happy with their time on the trails. Cold northwest winds were mostly a non-issue at this heavily tree protected system.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Ski trails were groomed for skate skiing. No new classic track reset due to thin snow. Some dirt showing through and debris is present. Current classic tracks may be icy.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I was fortunate to be the first to ski the freshly groomed tracks this morning. While the classic tracks were thin in a few spots on the south loop, the conditions were exceptional. No debris and clean grooming. I love Washington Cty Parks. Go east side!

Classic skied all the loops. While the tracks were good they were filled with leaves. I spent more time on the skate deck. Skating looked good but there were a few spots with lots of debris which could be avoided. I wished I had brought along my skating stuff.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Ski trails were groomed for skate skiing. The previous classic tracks were left due to lack of snow. Conditions are good considering thin conditions and having some debris present.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Park staff had just recently laid down a perfect corduroy trail and had left the well defined classic tracks intact. Good skis encouraged for skating, and B skis for classic, only because of the occasional small dirt spot poking through through the snow. Some scattered leaves in tracks, but not a hardship. It was a very nice afternoon skiing on well protected trails, with lots of sun, and mostly isolated, except for a very thoughtful ski trail walker who assured me that her large dog wouldn't hurt me.

Nice ski conditions every where except on some uphills. Dirty snow at the top of hills. I skied all the trails. Great to get out and be on skis! Thank you groomers!

A little thin in places, a little dirt here and there but also some nice corduroy. No set tracks due to low snow. Today I hit it lucky. The groomer was out. I skied all the ski trails at least once. Then I skied all the multiuser trails since they were freshly groomed. Got in 15 k without a ton of repeating.

No track set but good skating. Minimal debris. About 1” fresh snow not groomed. Very cold at -7 F so made it a quick loop.
