Fun morning on the Sugarbush system. We entered at the Moose Fence Trailhead and skied a portion of the Maple Loop and all of the Upland Loop. Definitely some debris in the tracks on the Upland Loop from the wind but nothing too serious.

From Britton again--what a difference compared to yesterday. The groomers took a pass at resetting some of the classic track (and making another pass over the skate late). I had good grip/kick on the regroomed segments. Bridge, Hogback, Piece of Cake, Wood Duck, and the first loop have all been retracked (the exception is the G-H segment connecting Hogback to Homestead and completing the Bridge loop). In areas with more direct southern exposure, the classic track was shallower with occasional icing--for example, the lower Wood Duck and lower first loop (trailhead to A) where the track is on the inland side of the trail have shallower track. And the part of the D-I segment of Bridge after the turn is as good as it can be, given the few patches of melt (still able to be avoided easily).

Skied from Britton Peak trailhead on the near loops (Duck, Cake, Bridge). I was out in the morning, so have been cautious in rating. The temps yesterday caused some melting and refreeze, so the classic track is pretty icy, meaning there wasn't much kick for me. The excellent grooming team did, however, refresh the skate lane which looked to be in good shape (and was helpful in getting up hills when I couldn't double-pole up due to the lack of in-track kick). By the time I finished, the temps were getting back above freezing and the sun was hitting the trail, so I anticipate a bit more melt may be happening this afternoon. Coverage overall was good, although after the turn on Bridge (from D to I), there is a very short segment in which the classic track is down to bare ground (easily avoided) and a few patches of dirt poking through the skate lane here and there (again, easily avoided).

Started from the Oberg lot and skated to L and M. What probably began the day as a freshly groomed ski trail had been visited by a plethora of hikers and snow shoers. I climbed up to the Onion River Road at M and found it to be nicely groomed all the way up. I then did an out and back on the blue trail from the parking lot to the Homestead cutoff. Again, nicely groomed. The temperature was approaching 40F by the end of my ski and the snow got sticky, so be ready for thaw/refreeze conditions this week. There is a little gravel coming up in a few spots, but you could get away with using good skis if you're careful.

Great conditions on ORR, east and west Oberg, Picnic Ridge, Homestead and Connector. Tracks well formed, but a bit shallow in places, Great coverage, firm grip able skate deck, wonderful weekend on Sugarbush!

Do you like hills? Lots of hills? Do you like the feeling of being alone in the wilderness? How 'bout great grooming? Do you like great grooming? If you answered "yes" to, at least, two of these questions - you would love Sugarbush! It is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite trail system! If you are looking for an "epic" ski - this is the place! We started at Moose Fence and skied the two loops immediately adjacent to it. Then over to the Picnic, down the mile long hill, around Oberg and back. About 30K total. I'm bushed. Temps were mid-twenties, light snow falling. Really a perfect day.

From Britton Peak skied Picnic Ridge, West Oberg, Connector, Homestead and Hogback. Skating was sublime. Great grooming, smooth not too soft skate deck, solid tracks, super glide. Will be back tomorrow for the best conditions of the year!

Skied from Britton TH. Skied Picnic Loop, Oberg Loop, and back, then crossed road and took trail back to Tofte. All trails freshly groomed and in great shape, except the last couple of kms just west of Tofte where trails were pretty thin and had some foot traffic.

Skated from the Britton Peak trail head around Hogback and Homestead and back on the connector. Hogback has not been groomed since last week's 3 in snowfall and now has significant wind crust crud, drifts, and a rough skier made classic track. It is very hard to skate and while it can be classic skied in the skier track, snowplowing out of the track would be difficult in the breakable crust and crud. While I did not ski the Picnic Ridge, it looked in the same condition at its junction with Hogback. Homestead, Piece of Cake, Wood Duck, and the connector all had been groomed and were fine although skating in the cold produced limited glide with the energy I had today.

Went out at 12:30pm from the Britton Peak parking lot and got right behind the groomers! They set the skate and classic tracks on the first couple letters. Completed Homestead loop which was not groomed. Did a lot of shuffling with the snow drifts and ungroomed crusty powder from the new snow - kept us warm :). Saw one other person classic skiing and thankful for her tracks.
