Did a large loop on Sugarbush today - Moose Lake trailhead area had only had a few tracks and was in primo shape. The black picnic loop connector was also in fine form. Good skis for sure. However, the areas around Britton Peak, Hogback, Homestead and the Southern connector were getting well used by noon, had much more debris, with a slightly inferior snow pack. If you focus on those latter areas you might opt for B skis.

Skied from the Oberg lot, around east Oberg, up and back Onion River Road, then about 4k of the Picnic loop from M. Beautiful sunny day. Nearly virgin corduroy throughout, firm deck, great control downhill, with very little debris...just awesome! Kudos to the groomers. I'd avoid going down the big hill on east Oberg unless you're a serious thrill seeker or highly skilled. There are several bumps/depressions that would be like moguls to launch yourself off.

Skied from Britton Peak all of Hogback, Homestead, about 3k of Picnic, and bit of the connector to K. Virgin corduroy much of the way. Cold, new snow made for slower going, but the descents were excellent. The tracks were well formed, but hadn't fully set up solid the few times I jumped in them. Rated conditions B skis because of the debris turned up here and there by the grooming but pretty easy to avoid (except for the one small rock I never saw, but my ski let me know). Conditions got better and better the further away from the trailhead, which were definitely 'A'.

Skied from 10:30am-noon all of Onion River Road and about 3.5km of connector toward Britton Peak. About 3-4" of powder snow fell last night. Trails were rolled only when I was there. Picnic trail at M had not been rolled yet. It was hard work, but beautiful. I saw virtually no debris on the rolled trail. Several smiling folks were out striding in this winter wonderland. The coming days look mighty promising for those who can get out here!

First time skiing here. Beautiful scenery. The first loop out from Britton Peak parking had debris and bare spots. Further out we got the better the trails were. The classic tracks are set off far to the side with a little tilt at spots. I pulled a trailer so that made for some awkward moments. Flurries while we skiied. We did just a couple easy loops with our 6 year old. Fun to have the real snow and gorgeous backdrop and few people as we have spent most our time at Hyland Park in Bloomington which gets busy.

Light new snow and trail grooming have helped. Oberg and Picnic trails were good for the most part with occasional patchs of debris from cedar and spruce groves. Hard to find a better place to ski right now than Sugarbursh.

Onion River Road, upper Homestead, and Picnic Loop were all freshly groomed today and in very good condition. There are a few dirt spots and rocks that are easy to avoid. You could make good skis work if you’re careful. I was a little worried about what the warm temps last week were going to do to the trails, but the groomers worked their magic and created near perfect conditions today. Thank you groomers!

Did a quick skate up and down Onion River Rd and around Oberg loop. Skate deck was in great shape, firm and fast but with fresh grooming, easy to get a grip. Downhill on Oberg was the hardest part as it was a rocket fast roller coaster and big foot print holes were a hazard as well as a few dirt spots that had to be quickly avoided. Otherwise it was sweet.

Skated Homestead and Hogback from the Britton Peak trailhead. Temps were above freezing as they have been most afternoons this week, but today the deck was much softer than it has been previously. Perhaps it did not freeze last night. Pole plants were often poking thru even in the middle of the lane but skis did not make ruts. Conditions were slow and on the connector, the lowest elevation trail, dirt is becoming a problem in that you have to stop skating and double pole in narrower lanes to get past many sections. The one water spot on the connector was solid ice when I crossed it, but no more snow is left to ski around it. Once you climb the Homestead trail conditions improve considerably in terms of coverage, but it is still slow in the warm temps. When it freezes again it could be quite fast.

I skied Picnic-Hogback-Homestead-Oberg loop-and all the connector trails. I skated the Picnic loop and classiced on Oberg. Picnic was in great condition and fast, you could use good skis if you did an out and back on Picnic. The other loops had areas of debris and dirt, but they were nearly all easily avoided. Unfortunately someone had walked most of Oberg and made giant post holes. (I also hiked the hiking trail oberg loop which was very scenic. I would recommend that as a side trip if you have time after skiing.).
