So much snow! We stayed on the green part of the Oberg loop, and the wide track was pristine. Freshly groomed overnight and only getting slightly slushy. The south/west track was sticker and bette for climbing, and the north/east track was better for going down since it was a bit icier. Amazing to see so much snow and great late-season grooming.

For those who like to have fun without the frostbite, get out to Sugarbush if you can. The snow is deep and there is no sign of spring burn out spots, even in the direct sun. If grooming can continue, there could be many more days to enjoy.

In 40 years of living up here this is the best April ski conditions that I have seen. I arrived at Sugarbush at noon with a temperature of 37 degrees. The trails were freshly groomed this morning. It looks like there is at least 2 feet of base snow on the trails still. I used my skin skis and had great grip and glide even on the big up hill climbs. Skin skis are really made for spring skiing and have really extended our season. I can't thank the Sugarbush Trail Association enough for continuing to groom these magnificent trails late into the season!

Absolutely beautiful skiing at Sugarbush this morning. Truly "mid-winter" conditions, but without the wind and bitter cold. Lots of snow in the woods and a deep, firm, clean base. We skate skied almost all segments, only skipping those which weren't groomed overnight (Moose Fence, trail down to Tofte and north end of Onion River Road). A snowmobile/ginzu did the grooming, and the classic tracks were not re-set, but were visible under 1.5 inches of powder in places and nicely skied-in elsewhere. Skate deck was silky smooth. We finished up just before noon, when the temperature was touching 32F and the sun was making its presence known. Lots of excellent off-trail crust skiing opportunities also. Amazing to have conditions like this in April.

Another amazing day on wonderfully groomed trails! We classic skied and there was just enough light dry snow that had blown into the tracks to give my worn out skins just enough grip going up hills. The skate lane was firm and fast at 10 degrees this morning. With the full sun blazing down it should become a little less hard. Slight debris on the trail from the high winds yesterday so we flicked small twigs into the woods as we skied past. Noticed a pair of sunglasses on the trail at the bottom of one of the hills on homestead loop. A great day skiing!

Tried the upper section, Moose Fence, from the parking lot. Good, deep classic tracks, but a thick crust over the skate track. We turned around before the big hill.

Groomed yesterday. A++ Nirvana! Fresh mid-winter corduroy with a touch of crust that further added to the fun! Classic trails had some mild drifting in spots which was getting skied in. Several feet snowpack throughout. No significant transformation as of 2pm due to cooler temps today so tomorrow should be great too. Huge kudos to groomers!

Beautifully set tracks by the pisten bully overnight. We skied East and West Oberg loop this morning, the skate lane was firm, a mix of some hard crusted snow and powder that we were able to get an easy edge when needed as we were classic skiing. The tracks were well set and firm with some areas of blown in snow. What great conditions for early spring! I used Start grip tape which was perfect. All skiers on the trails had smiles.

Best ski of the year. Skied very nearly everything. Groomers were out early this morning, so we were often among the first (if not the first) people after fresh corduroy was put down. Started very early and it was fun and wicked fast. By around 10 it had already warmed considerably and was getting soft and slow. Get out there in the morning, afternoon skiing will be far less fun both for you and for anyone trying to ski the next morning!

Late Spring conditions. Lots of snow, but surface is dirty and water laden. Need to be very careful when planting the outside pole or it will go down up to two feet. We skied from Britton Peak Parking to the Picnic Loop and back, but it was pretty hard work. Skin skis provided excellent kick and glide for the conditions. Scenery on this trail is the best in MN.
