I like skiing here because I'm a beginner and the trails are pretty flat and I can work on my skills. However, the skate tracks were barely groomed and mostly 2-3 inches of inconsistent, fluffy snow, so really hard to skate. I think the groomer needs to go over these a few more times to harden down the track. We only went in a few hundred yards and turned back. We went to Lake Elmo instead which was in great shape. I look forward to seeing something from the groomer this week so I can try again next weekend.

The trails were probably freshly groomed yesterday afternoon since there was little evidence of skiers having used the trails prior to 8:00 a. m. Conditions were relatively hard and fast. A few leaves and some tree debris were beginning to accumulate in the tracks because of the gusty winds that were rapidly increasing as we skied. Very good-to-excellent conditions early this morning, however.

The St. Croix Bluffs trails were in such fine condition yesterday that we returned for another tour of the park. The Red and Blue loops could not be better for skiing. The inch of light, loose snow actually made the tracks better than yesterday. The groomer was out as we completed our loops, but there really was no need to re-groom anything this afternoon.

Trails were all touched up today and the blue and red loops are all tracked. Very minimal debris out on the trails right now and overall things are in pretty great condition!

The trails at St. Croix Bluffs were perfectly groomed on all three loops. The tracks were deep and smooth (minimal debris or deer damage); the skate deck appeared very good as well. There were a few icier spots under the conifers on the Red (south) Loop, but those were being covered by the fresh snow as we skied. The light powder was turning very good conditions into excellent conditions.

If the trails were repacked today I just missed it. I skate skied the blue loop around 9:30 this morning and there was a couple inches of soft snow on the skate deck. I didn't ski the other trails, but based on how they looked near the parking lot they were in similar shape. On the plus side there's plenty of snow for skiing and little debris on the trail. If you classic ski it looked like there were tracks all the way around the blue loop.
