Reports 1 to 10 of 66    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Wednesday, March 2, 2022
Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle Lost/Found
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Birches Skate Trail is poor/fair. Biathlon trail was fair. The ski season is winding down due to lack of snow. Be very cautious if skating due to icy conditions. Photo of a ski bag apparently left overnight. It is charcoal and red.

Skate deck had a fair amount of loose snow as it was just touched up this morning. Not many people out, possibly due to the Birkie going on. Made for a little slower skate for a newbie like myself. Otherwise not much debris and plenty of coverage. Appeared the classic tracks were well set also.

Afternoon

[ Good skis ]
It's amazing how only an inch or so of new snow can transform a "tired" trail! Full coverage on Friday he entire Maple loop, minimum debris (mostly all covered up) a bit soft yet, and well groomed! Absolutely enjoyed ever km of it.

The skate trails have received a lot of use since last grooming. No visible classic tracks along Maples Trail. Debris is mild or moderate. The skate surface is good but not excellent.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The new snow was groomed by the Pisten Bully this morning. Maples and Per's loops are excellent but do not have classic tracks. Birches, Biathlon, and Lighted loops are excellent with new classic tracks laterally. The deck is level, clean, and fast with good pole plants. Some thin areas beneath the pine trees of Birches loop. One of the best days at the camp at this year.

Some residual grooming is left left on the skate lanes. Beware of substantial debris and frequent ice patches, especially the first half kilometer. Ski with caution.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The groomers used last night's one inch snowfall to create a groomed skate trail. There's a moderate amount of wind blown debris. No classic tracks were visible. Use good skis with caution. The skate deck is icy fast.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The groomers had the Pisten Bully place a light corduroy coat on the skate lanes. Grooming was present on the Lighted Loop, Biathlon loop, and adjacent east-west straightaways. The surface was fast and controllable with occasional icy areas. The groomers improved the safety quite a bit. Good skis may be used with caution. The classic tracks are virtually nonexistent.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skate lanes have been groomed within the last 24 hours. Trail debris was variable and the deck was wide and fairly level. Skating was fast yet controllable. Adjacent classic tracks were present in 50–75% of the trail.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The groomer placed a light layer of corduroy on the skate lanes early this morning. The result was fast and controllable. Some debris on the trail but good skis would still be acceptable. The snow is too shallow to set classic track. A very good morning at the camp.
