Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skate trails were icy fast early this morning, but began to warm up quickly. The groomers had put a light comb over the surface and there are residual ruts from yesterday's warm weather. Adjacent diagonal tracks are fair with glazed surfaces. This would have been a convenient morning to ski a virtual marathon.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The groomers had not finished the skate trails yet (noon). Consequently, the deck was deep, slow and tedious because of the new snowfall. The classic tracks appeared superior to the skate lanes. The scenery was picturesque.

Skating lanes of Maples and Birches are wide, level and compacted. They were re-groomed by 8 am today. Substantial diagonal tracks alongside. Very good conditions overall. Just be cautious of sand on inclines of Per's Loop.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skate lanes of Maples and Birches will need a repeat grooming, but it will not be done until after tomorrow morning's snow bike race. It is a toss-up between using good or best skate skis. Coverage is virtually 100% with rare areas of dirt starting to show on inclines. Plenty of snow is present and diagonal tracks appeared good-to-very good. Tracks were present on these skate (Maples, Birches) trails. The groomers continue to pay close attention to the system keeping this a good ski destination.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The RFC is in excellent shape for both skate and classic despite not being groomed for a couple of days. Note: there is a fat tire bike event on Saturday in the morning. Per the web site, the course will be groomed after the bike event. Carpe Skiem!

A dreamy fast 18 degree skate ski on mostly the maple trails. Classic tracks looked to be deep. Some leaf and acorn debris existed but easily avoided.

Great conditions + great weather = a great day to ski! Skate deck is packed and firm, the classic tracks have not been refreshed since last week, but they are holding up well at 50-75% depth! Carpe skiem!

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Great evening ski at the reforestation camp! Managed to do all of Birches/Green loop, with Per's loop on yellow added on for good measure (extended portion with a headlamp), and a double-checked conditions on the lighted loop. Everything is looking quite nice right now, and since the temperatures were warmer than they have been for the past 2 weeks we considered it grand and most comfortable. Not too crowded, and plenty of space throughout. Extended reaches of Birches and Maples were quite and not too many leaves or pinecones...easily worked around. Great time for a ski!
