Absolutely terrific late season skiing at Lakewood today! The trip included bumping into and thanking the Beno's who are part of the ace groomer volunteers who make this wonderland tick. This area has received over 20" of snow since Birkie week which has now created a deck depth of about 10 inches. Everything south of Smythe Road has been groomed yesterday or today with the exception the hill section off the golf course. Enjoy. Carpe Skiem!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed from the golf course parking lot to the Old 32 parking lot this morning. Made multiple passes to pack the deep new snow. Classic tracks set throughout this section. Beautiful to be in the woods today. Trail may be on the soft side due to the large amount of snow we were trying to groom in.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skied from the south end of the golf course out to 8K including the beginners loop. The groomer was out last night trying to tenderize the skate lane in this area (and out to Sullivan Spring Road). The trail is generally in poor condition with icy stretches, thin spots and very fast conditions. The remnants of the classic tracks were shallow and icy.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied around the golf course, behind the golf course, and out to Smyth Road. Skating was very fast with the trail glazed over after the warmth of yesterday and the freezing temps overnight. Full coverage on the trail, could get an edge in most areas but a few icy spots. Classic tracks were icy (melted from yesterday and refrozen overnight).

Interesting ski at Lakewood just after sunrise this morning. Where there were double tracks, the tracks were icy fast on one side, and blow over/refrozen on the other. Skate conditions were variable and hard/icy fast. In general, they were the best that could be expected given the low snow and warmer daytime temps. Trail traffic picked up as we were leaving mid-morning, but the lack of debris likely meant decent conditions for all who made the drive.
