Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Another 5 inches of snow fell last night so we rolled and set tracks on the entire system this morning. Classic tracks were excellent while the skate deck was a bit soft. We plan to Ginzu groom all trails in the morning.

On two-day old grooming, tracks half-filled with slightly icy powder. Quite good and very fast once first skier packed track. Hills on G and Z quite fast with moderate control. Leaf litter mostly covered.

All of the trails at Valley Spur were groomed and tracked this morning. One word for the condition of the trails - Excellent! Cross-country skiing doesn't get any better than today.

Lots of snow at Valley Spur. The trails we skied were recently groomed and tracked. Conditions - very good, more leaves in the tracks than I have experienced in my previous visits. One of my favorite trails and the grooming has never disappointed.

Grooming

What a gorgeous New Years Day! Lots of sun, fresh snow and happy folks out enjoying the day on the trails. We finish groomed and cleared whips on A, B, C, D, G, X, Y and W today and all reports were that the skiing was great. We still have H trail closed til we can get in there and see how bad Worels Woods is after all the warm and rain. I suspect it might be kind of bad. We plan to get in there tomorrow to check it out and possibly get Z opened as well.

Excellent day and beautifully groomed trails and cozy warm up by the wood burning stove in the log cabin. Coffee and viewing the amazing photography in Munising tops the day.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We now have all trails open and groomed for both skate and classic. The last two to be opened were the last segment of G and Z. They are still a little uneven in spots but overall quite good. The system is shaping up nicely with good classic tracks throughout and most trails have a nice firm skate deck with plenty of width. The scenery with all the snow covered trees is stunningly beautiful as well.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
We are making good progress getting segments open daily. We have had an unprecedented amount of trees, limbs and debris fall on our trail system during the Thanksgiving storm and then another storm hit the following Sunday. We are now grooming 80% of our trail system and things are shaping up nicely. The woods are beautiful and the Lodge is now open and cozy warm.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Wednesdays snowstorm wreaked havoc on our trail system. Trees and branches are down all over, so clearing trails is a slow process. We were able to set track on A. We also cleared D. Grooming plans: Dave will groom D Saturday morning. The Lodge will be open with a fire going. The scenery is great and we have a lot of snow. We plan to work on another loop in the morning. Big thanks to Howie for coming up from Esky today with his chainsaw.

Firsthand: Both

Good skating with trails recently combed with Ginzu. Debris negligible and deck good with some camel humping down the middle in place but not bad. Tracks were set on some trails and on others 2" of new snow was skied down. NMU's Nordic Teams were there with coach Sten getting in some Ks too. Great day.
