Trails received 6+" of fresh snow yesterday on top of a good base. Temps finally dropping into the teens overnight so things should firm up. Classic was very good and scenery great with snow still on the trees. Snow shoe trails have been opened up so great scenery along the creek. The weekend conditions will be good.

John C was out grooming entire system. Some light snow overnight mixed in well with older snow underneath. The temps were just below 32F and with a lot of moisture in the snow the glide was a little slower. He was able to put in some new classic tracks so not to bad given the warm up the past few days.

What a difference a day makes. We skated Saturday, the classic tracks were perfect, jumped in them often, the skates lanes had been groomed but it was chunky which made for some thrilling descents. Sunday morning we arrived ready to classic if skate lanes still looked like they did Saturday. They had redone all trails, classic tracks were still great. Skate deck was perfect cords so we skated. It was a bit slower with the warming temps. Very fun skiing in Hiawatha forest. We really love Munising area.

Light snow off and on through the day as temps hovered around freezing. Skins were working well. Temps are dropping into the 20's so groomers can get out in the morning. A very good base so look for great conditions throughout the weekend.

Came up from Lansing, Michigan and found beautifully set tracks for classic and skating. Scenery was gorgeous and lodge open and warm! The trails are varied: flat or hills or a mix of the two through woods and along a small creek. We are trying to train for the Birkie and had a blast on these well groomed trails in a winter wonderland forest setting! All the trails were open and we were skiing classic.

Munising seems to be a well-kept secret for great skiing right now. It was 27 degrees and sunny with no wind upon our arrival from Sheboygan this afternoon. We were welcomed by unbelievably beautiful scenery, 10+" of dense new snow with trees heavily flocked like a Christmas card scene! I had a great classic ski for 1.5 hrs. Skate lanes are groomed, but still soft. My wife Ann snowshoed on virgin trails. Fun! Oh I almost forgot to mention that Munising sunset is past 5:30 pm EST. Not many people are here (yet)!

Great conditions as yesterday's cold weather firmed up the skate deck and new snow is falling. Groomers were out widening trails. John C will be on top of all the new snow. Linda W, our volunteer coordinator opened the Lodge today and had a great fire going. Lodge will be open every day next week.

About 5" of new snow Saturday night on some prior frozen base, so John C was out the last two days grooming. Everything open and tracked except H (Worel's Woods}. Good early season conditions.
