Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Just had to get in another loop this morning. 9.5-inches of new snow. Certainly spring skiing - All the trails I skied or looked at as I passed by had been skier-tracked by at least one other person. Pretty deep, use your gaters. Every person makes the trail that much better. Lots of snow.

Deep, firm tracks. Extremely fast spring conditions. I had to bleed off speed by snowplowing most downhills.

Perfect conditions at Washburn this morning after fresh snowfall last night. Skate track was groomed and groomers were beginning to set classic tracks when I left around noon.

Skied what I call the Cassian connector trail (from Perch Lake Shelter to County Road K). Tracks were fast (not icy) but a bit shallow and had scattered oak/maple leaves scattered throughout. Having said that, the skiing was awesome in the sun - fast and sassy! Get out and enjoy the snow - doesn't get any better!

Fantastic classic and skate conditions. Probably the nicest day skiing all winter so far.

Excellent conditions. Firm tracks with a trace of new snow in them. They'll be fast after we skied them in. Skate deck was firm, looked lovely.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Washburn had its skate deck refurbished yesterday, but unfortunately it froze again.   This has left Washburn dangerous.  As for the classic tracks they were not touched yesterday, and are dangerously icy.   We would recommend that skiers stay off of Washburn until it has been regroomed. Our groomers plan to be out on Wednesday.

Firsthand: Classic Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied Washburn early this afternoon. Everything is in great shape. Grooming plans for skate deck to be cleaned up tonight, as well as tomorrow evening. The classic tracks are hanging in there nicely. Should be primed for weekend skiing.

This was my second ski at Washburn this week. Both classic and skate were groomed to perfection each day.

What a pleasant surprise from yesterday’s ungroomed trails attempt. In some cases, I was the first on fresh corduroy trails. Skiing was a blast and covered all skate trails.
