Started skiing at 6:30 this morning and the skate and classic grooming was perfect. Deep tracks and well set up corduroy. The tilling brought up some new snow so there was less debris than last week. Thanks to the team! Sections started to breakdown and soften as the morning progressed. Still a great base with a little loose snow on top. Expect similar conditions Sunday morning. Then grooming becomes a day-by-day call as temps might not dip below freezing.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
I had the Pisten Bully out early this morning and groomed the entire skate deck and reset tracks on our man-made trail system. As the weather pattern is these days, it should be good skiing until the air temperature warms up and breaks our snow down. Enjoy the skiing that we have going on at the moment. The depth and width of our trails keeps shrinking on a daily basis. Enjoy today and have a great ski.

Skated the one mile man made loop just past noon, found loose sugary corn snow over a good base. A bit slow, but could have been worse if the sun was out. Loose snow on bottom of magic carpet hill from snow plowing, but not real bad, easy to navigate. If there was an end of season ski awards, man made trails would be the MVP, along with the groomers and generous donations from people.

I got there at 7:30 am and was disappointed that it was very bumpy and hard and I was not able to skate on it. I saw 2 DNR guys and asked if they were going to groom and they said yes! They groomed the skate deck with the Ginzu and wow what a difference! It was wonderful! Parts did get a bit mashed potatoey pretty quick, but it wasn't super deep and it was still firm underneath. I had a great ski! I did not classic but the tracks looked ok in parts and bad in others. It actually snow while I was skiing!

Deep snowcone snow on the skate lanes on the snowmaking loops by late morning. Not as wet as the last couple of days, but a good workout plowing through it. Tracks from yesterday are okay, but a bit icy. Magic Carpet is slow out of the track, but has some chutes developing. Plenty of snow cover with only minor debris issues.

I started at 7:30am and it was difficult with the ruts frozen in but you could still find places to ski that were manageable. DNR started grooming with the Ginzu shortly after and by 8am skate deck was refreshed but soft. As I was leaving someone said the grooming wasn't needed because look it was now too soft. A tale of two people. Tracks were very solid. It might have gotten colder than expected. The groomers are trying to balance preserving the snow and not grooming, knowing that mid day it will be fine with warming temperatures that are guaranteed to come, and tilling and grooming so it's perfect first thing in the morning. Remember snowmaking and grooming is run by volunteers, please consider donating.

Drove two hours only to find a rutted, ungroomed block of ice. Some track but very icy. Very disappointed. Lots of people.

Nice skiing early on the snowmaking loops but getting soft and slushy towards noon. Grooming this morning provided a smooth firm surface initially, however, skier traffic, rising temps, and the sun loosened it up and slowed it down. New tracks set this morning were solid, but getting icy. The Early Bird gets the Worm, or in this case, the best skiing conditions.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
We had the Piston Bully out at night grooming for the high school races. The skate deck was tilled and is in great condition. New classic track was set and is in good condition. The trail will soften as the day goes on. The high school race will be held tonight from 5:00 to 8:00 pm

Got there about 9:30 am and the skate deck on the man-made loop was quite used, but the temps weren't too warm yet so the conditions weren't real slow. About an hour or so later, it started slowing down, but still plenty of coverage. I got out on the green loop which is thin in several spots. I recommend B skis, but used my good skis with no damage. The worst part is the top of the climb. Tree debris, but no rocks. Got in 30k on rhe green loop.
