So thankful for the snowmaking loop, with high temps this December. The 50-degree day softened the skate deck, and then falling temps in the evening created a rock-solid deck that felt like a sheet of ice. Classic tracks were solid and well-set.

Manmade loop at Elver has been extended to a solid 1 kilometer. Nice climb along with twisty turns makes for a fun place to get some snow time despite lack of natural stuff here in southern Wis. Skate lane mixed corn and hard pack along with decent classic track. Thanks to Madnorski and CXC for a largely volunteer effort to make it happen. Lots of happy people out skiing in 45 degree sunshine today.

The snowmaking loop was great, with enough depth to withstand some warming. Track-set was perfect for double-pole respite and to save skate lane if it gets really heavy, not set on most tight corners. Skate lane was mostly firm even into midday because base is so deep or ice. The hateful hill section is now open. The only issues are some walker mud and an obvious thin section to watch for. Thanks to all. Trail passes helped this happen, please buy 'em and wear 'em.

Still just the very short loop (about 1:20 for me to complete a lap). But, giant piles of snow everyone else so hopefully the entire snowmaking loop will be open soon.

The Elver Glacier has returned! 1/2K with some turns and small elevation changes. Nice flat surface getting a little soft in places but should firm up with cold nights and regrooming. Some debris here and there. Dec 5th and skiing in Madison, I'll take it!
