Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied both East and West segments. A very soft skate deck made for a good workout. Thanks to all groomers working hard on it!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied both the East and West sides, all trails in excellent condition, firm and deep classical track and near perfect skating deck. For some reason the man made hill hasn't been groomed since the snowfall and the entry to the loop is a little challenging. The snow is cold making it a little slow, a small price to pay and a relief from the iced conditions prior to the snow. A full moon adds to the magic.

Today I felt like the kids in the Carol Burnett and Albert Finney movie version of "Annie." Seeing all that fresh snow this morning was like Ms. Hannigan surprising the orphans with the news that they would not have to eat hot mush that day. What elation! Actually skiing on it, however, was the moment Ms. Hannigan told them they would eat cold mush instead. The snow was definitely cold mush and slow and laborious. It's a hard knock life. Still, my parents are still alive, so all things considered I guess it was a pretty good day. Groomers have their work cut out for them!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
On the West side today the trail had been groomed. Once beyond the first trail intersection there was a remarkably good classical track. The second and last downhills were not groomed and getting narrower, the second hill rather choppy at the bottom. The tracks were a little slick, I could see ice underneath the thin snow and there are leaves and twigs present. The skate deck was as good as it's been in a while, firm deck with some loose snow and very fast. Hopefully we'll get more snow as even though the skiing was good it's getting very thin.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the West side today. Groomed today but only corduroy set, classical tracks untouched. Very hard base remains, many of my pole plants just bounced back. When I switched to skating I had no issues. The classical track is slick, my waxless skis weren't effective onl any inclines. The second and last hills were not groomed and there is icing in the turns of both. Some twigs and leaves but not excessive, might be an issue for waxed skis. Skating is a much better option at this point.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skated everything. Pretty even base on the west side after grooming, but still pretty icy in spots making it hard to catch an edge. The east side wasn't groomed in the last 24 hours, but it's been packed down by other skiers making it pretty firm and fast. The track looked pretty shallow and washed out in some places after lots of use this weekend.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skated everything this afternoon into this evening. West trails were hard and icy, slippery in places. East trails were soft, powdery, and relatively slow with the new snow. Looks like the recent storm added more base than it took away, which is a relief. The beginner brigade was out in full force. It's great to see so many people out enjoying skiing! More experienced skiers may want to consider skating, focusing on the east side trails (which are less busy), skiing in the morning before rentals open, or skiing around sunset when people start to clear out.

Morning
Secondhand Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed ]
Trails are currently closed to preserve the base that is out there. Please, I highly recommended adhering to that. The manmade snow loop is open however so ski freely there. Thanks for your patience get your snow dance on!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied East and West which had not been groomed. West is sloppier than the East which was choppy, snow was beginning to freeze making it even rougher. Tracks on the man made area were in good shape, the West were shallow and soft. I'd use B skis on the West. Better than not skiing.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skated the man made loops this afternoon and they were in very good condition, the snow held up well to the warm conditions. No icing, firm and fast. The new area bridging East and West is a little rougher than the area but still perfectly good skiing. The trail intersection is quite choppy but a minor inconvenience given that the ski are has nearly doubled.
