Some of you may have noticed the odd classic tracks I set last night, especially the skaters when it invaded the skate deck. That was due to an all important bolt shearing off from the track pan, allowing it to have a mind of its own, veering where it wanted, and alternating between deep and super shallow tracks. To remedy that all the tracks at Upper Spirit were reset tonight after Coach Jim helped replace that bolt which required four hands. The CG, 3K and 5K skate decks were also groomed again but the black diamond trail skate deck was not due to its good condition. Cheers.

About one inch of new snow had fallen in the morning. When we skied at 1:00 today the grooming had not yet occurred, but it appeared they were grooming the trails when we were leaving. All in all, it was a good ski and it was nice to have some new snow. We skied classical and could still stay in the tracks. It was another great day to be skiing.

All trails at Upper Spirit Mountain Nordic are groomed as of 8 p.m. Light snow fell all day amounting to about 2 inches, so we were able to lay new classic tracks system-wide too. Cheers!

Upper Spirit Mountain Nordic was groomed tonight with the exception of the MacDonald’s Loop (which is still in good condition). The CG received new tracks and more new tracks will be set where snow conditions become suitable. Cheers.

It’s -3F and all Upper Spirit Mountain Nordic trails are groomed. Very firm skate base and good classic tracks. The windchill is -22F if you’re curious. Cheers!

Tonight’s full moon now illuminates a freshly groomed skate ski trail system at Upper Spirit Mountain Nordic. The classic tracks remain in good winter striding condition. Next grooming will be mid-week weather and snow dependent. Cheers!

After hosting a very successful Denfeld Invitational ski meet, the Campground Loop and Warming Hut Loop were groomed and tracked tonight. The new tracks are shallow but firm. The skate deck is very firm with new corduroy. The 3K loop was groomed while the tracks were left intact as they are skied in and very firm. The 5 and 11K loops have light fluffy snow cover. The skate deck and tracks are skied in and very firm. Grooming plan: The 5 and 11K skate decks will be groomed Sunday night and the tracks will be left intact due to their good condition. From 1 - 3pm Sunday, Nordic Kids Ski will take place at Upper Spirit Mnt. This last lesson is a picnic held at the old Warming Hut. Enjoy.

Wow, just wow! This was my first ski of the year at Spirit and it was impeccably pristine! Kudos to Larry the new groomer for his consistent top notch grooming! I have seen the trail numerous times and it has been in great shape, today was the first time actually using it. Very well worth calling in sick tomorrow and skiing there and it's neighbor, via the connector, Magney as that is in great shape too, not a bit icy on either trail. I've been skiing Spirit for almost two decades and this is the absolute best it has looked consistently!
