Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Good skis ]
We classic and skate skied the campground and 3k at Spirit upper today and it is in need of grooming. There is a skied in track on most of it that is pretty far into the skate lane. That track is washed out on corners, non existent in places, and good in others with leaves on about 20% of it. The skate lane has 3 inches of fluff that is skied in. On some downhills and other well used places it is like slippery concrete... falling would hurt. I had great glide again with my Rode purple liquid cold. I would ski elsewhere until this is groomed.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Trails remain skiable but due to a broken Pisten Bully, they will not be groomed until further notice. The trails have about an inch of fresh snow cover and the last track set is visible. The skate deck is firm but a little slower than usual.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
There was a few inches of fresh snow on top of groomed trails. I skied the first part of the 10k and the last past on the 5k. The skate deck was narrow and a little uneven. I ended up going to Magney. Hoping to do the whole 10k soon!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I classic skied around several of the loops. There was plenty of snow, but the trails had not been tracked or packed since the last snowfall. Mostly I was able to ski in the old, existing tracks, There was about one to two inches of snow in the tracks. Very quiet out there. I had the only car in the parking lot when I arrived.

Very good conditions. Classic tracks are in terrific shape and deck is firm. Most of the traffic up here seems to be skate skiing.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The following trails are open as of tonight for skate and classic: 3/5K, Camp Ground and Warming Hut. The MacD Loop is skate-only. Conditions: a few wet/soft spots; a few machine blemishes. The 10K was opened with saws and now needs to be cleared of debris. Thanks to all who have been helping clear trails. 22 K of forested trail is a lot of trail. Cheers!

Observation Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Starting Wednesday and going through Thursday, the Spirit Mountain trail crew will work on opening the 10k segments. This means that machinery and workers will be focused on cutting trees and packing deep snow. Hours of Work: 0800 to 4:30p.m. both days. We will do our best to clean our tracks after each day; however, you may encounter only corduroy or rough cat tracks as we use the CG, Warming Hut, 3 and 5K trails to access the 10K segments. My compassionate advice: Ski elsewhere until trails are safe and fully open for use. Thank you again for your patience.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The 3 and 5K at were groomed today, adding a track for classic skiers. Not long afterwards this dandy tree came down at the 3/5K connection, blocking both trails. We'll remove it asap. A few dips on the 5K are soft - be mindful - as the flowing water is eating the snow. Thank you Aga for sharing the tree image. Cheers!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
We opened the 3K and 5K loops today, skate deck only; the Campground Loop is skate and classic. Overnight snow added another 4 inches which tilled in nicely. Small debris will be encountered; feel free to stop and toss sticks off the trail as they continue to drop. Skiing and cold temps will help to firm up the base which was Pisten Bully compacted four times due to super soft and super deep snow. The 10K is next for our crew. Cheers!

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
After hours of tree clearing we groomed the CG, the Warming Hut Loop and the 3K with the Pisten Bully. Skate only until the snow firms up (and it stops snowing and blowing). We ventured onto the 5k/10k and still have a lot of tree trimming to do before we groom that. Heavy snow was falling at 4p.m. so expect today's groom to be covered with fresh. The snow is powder and the skate deck is soft until it sets up with colder temperatures and use. You will encounter some low branches that we have yet to trim. Be patient and enjoy what's open.
