Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Hartley had been groomed since I had previously skied it 48 hrs ago. Tracks still had the freshly-groomed feel and extended fully up every hill. Hardly any tree debris in tracks at all. Getting fast out there...My easy ski once around the system was almost 10% faster than is typical, with heart rate the same. Great kick too. Pretty much perfect conditions.

Come and get it! Great conditions at Hartley on a blue wax morning. Light dusting of overnight snow in the tracks. I don't know when it had last been groomed but tracks were fairly deep and crisp. Pretty solid tracks and no iciness. Only one problematic pine tree dropping needles into the track on the entire system, and hardly a dropped oak leaf to be found. A great place for a recovery ski.

Beautiful ski at night by headlamp with the fresh snow. All of the trails were groomed but the tracks were thin and in poor condition.

The track is still set well, but I was surprised at the amount of leaves, needles, and twigs on the trail. If you are on waxable skis, plan on spending time cleaning up debris from your skis when you are done.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
Walked up to the bottom of the trail system. The groomer had been through and the tracks looked firm and deep: absolutely glorious, looks like a few people had been through but still pristine. I would have skied here but needed a skate day.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
As of 5:30 PM Hartley was not groomed but maybe that is for the best, as the wind that came up this evening is going to drift areas and blow some tree debris down. When I arrived at least one set of skied-in tracks were available, sometimes two, throughout the system. On my second pass, there were places where the tracks were almost blown over from the blowing snow, but most of it was holding up pretty well for skier-generated tracks.

The positive is that the tracks are still fairly deep in most sections. However, the majority of the trail is littered in debris. There is so much that the trail is difficult to ski on and expect damage to your skis. I recommend that you avoid Hartley until they are groomed again or there is another snowfall.

Skiied Hartley this morning, trails are in good condition for the most part. A few spots where the track has worn away but for not having any fresh snow for awhile they are in decent condition.

23F, sunny, no wind. Excellent tracks! The groomer went through around noon. They had set up really well by 4pm. A lot of the trail is totally clear and clean. There are also many sections where you can see the remains of twigs and leaves just underneath last night's dusting of snow. Some new leaves in the tracks, but not many. Someone did a ton of work clearing broken branches, etc. Thank you!

As the report for another location says, "it could have been worse". As of 8:30 AM this morning, no fresh grooming at Hartley. However, one of the two tracks had been skied in fairly recently and had the night's dusting of snow over the top. You did not break through crust if you used that track. And now I've skied it in for you. There's a fair amount of blown down twigs and branches, I removed a few of them but additional good Samaritans would be welcome. I didn't hot wax my kick wax into my base, and just used whatever blue was on my skis from last time, but 5K was enough to remove almost all of it. I guess there's some really sharp snow under the powder dusting. Beware of downhills - particularly downhill corners - as there are many ruts and some petrified snow balls in the way. Otherwise, it's nice and dry...no puddles or ice patches. Could have been worse.
