Trail Detail
Notes
The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.Trail Reports

Definitely spring crust skiing! It was about 33F when I started. Tar for glide wax and tar for kick wax on the Konigsberg skis. Most of that for cleaned off during the ski. Went from below B to the 1km loop by the river down L the wrong way past M to the parking lot uphill from A. I stayed out of the tracks because my three pin bindings were too wide for what the previous skiers skied in. It was a beautiful day on snow.

Post Late-Season conditions. The main trail is 99% covered. The downhill from the upper parking lot is marginal. One other bare short bare spot. Lots of birch debris from recent wind storm. I recommend that you wait till the temps are above freezing so that the ice patches thaw slightly. Avoid loop I. Great skiing for the pure joy.

+6 C. Sunny. Light breeze. The trail is incredibly soft. The sun is incredibly lovely. And the only thing I can think is that this person who walked in the ski tracks was doing so with so much intention! I feel like I shouldn't be on the trails right now, but it's just too beautiful to not want to put on my old fishscale skis and get some fresh air!

The tracks were soft/slushy, not nearly as bad as I had expected for a sunny 55ยบ afternoon in Duluth, MN. I'd go so far as to say they were pleasantly skiable for this first-year XC skier. It has been a while since it has been groomed, but tracks were definitely present and usable. I entered the Green loop off Seven Bridges Rd, and covered the entire main Green and Blue loops (no side trails, but from what I could see, those all looked equally skiable). I was surprised at how rarely I could see patches of the ground. The couple patches I encountered (plus a couple slush puddles that came pretty close to ground) were easily avoided by switching to the other track. I'm not sure how much longer these tracks will last, but it was a blast to be on the skis today. Get out there for one more while you still can!

An inch or snow of new snow on top of solid grooming. Terrific, midwinter conditions.

Skied this afternoon. Trails had just been groomed -- thanks groomers! Conditions are superb, some degree of perfect. Get out and enjoy, it is not going to last. I kicked, tracks are firm. Skate lane slightly soft but was setting up.
